i know there are no carbs or sugar, yet i keep getting people in my life that say…“Yeah, but it turns into sugar in the body!”
I have listened to your 2ketodudes alcohol podcast, and it dosn’t throw you guys out of ketosis apparently, but/& yes, u stall…!

WHAT'S THE DEAL w/ ALCOHOL? HELP!
Glucose IS a simple sugar
Your liver is in charge of turning foods into energy for our cells, usually in the form of glucose. Alcohol has to be specially processed by the liver — and since it is considered a poison by the body, it gets priority in the processing line up.
So the moment alcohol hits the blood stream, your liver drops everything else and detoxifies the alcohol.
Depending on how much you drink, your liver could be occupied for several hours with processing alcohol – all while your blood glucose levels drop (your body continues to consume energy on a regular basis), allowing for hunger to set in.
Your blood sugar will drop even when you eat foods that are high in sugar or processed carbohydrates – so boozing and then eating are a crazy combination that can quickly lead to overconsumption of calories!

Distilled alcohol goes quickly into the blood stream even when taken with food - and is generally hard on the body. Whereas fermented wine when taken with fatty food goes very slow into the blood stream, and in fact much of it never gets to the liver because of how it facilitates gastric juices and gets digested in the process.
Dr. Salvatore Lucia reports on comparisons of imbibing various alcohols with food and without food - most is very hard on the body except for wine with food.
Distilled alcohol and fermented grains aren’t advisable for physiological health - but having some rum or brandy eggnog can be a splendid thing over the winter hols, if one doesn’t have addiction issues or a fatty liver. Unfortunately a lot of folks do have addiction issues (whether bingeing on food or compulsive drinking) and/or fatty livers.
If you’re craving carby comfort foods and accompanying distilled liquor, focus on getting to total 100% fat adaptation (it takes anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months or more) and minimizing all alcoholic beverages until you’re stable in keto. Then, you might find your palate changes and your preferences change too!
