What's a good CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor)

#1

Been keto since Oct 28 things are going pretty good and thinking of getting a CGM because I like data it’s fun to me. I googled for about 1 second then realized I was just going to be bombarded with ad’s “best CGM ever!” (insert 350 5 star bot reviews here).

Any recommendations for the best bang for buck or maybe a few within a reasonable price range.

I think there are only 2, Dexcom and FreeStyle Libre. Both are pretty expensive.

I’m in BC, Canada. Don’t know anything about Dexcom, but I use a FreeStyle Libre and do not require a prescription to get either the reader or the sensor. The disposable sensor is $100 a pop - good for 14 days. So for me, it’s once in a while. I especially like FreeStyle’s online data site where you can upload your data and it will graph daily BG plots for you. Plus keep track of other data points over time.

Dexcom is the correct answer from my research. I tried 3 times 10 days and feel it did a pretty consistent job.

Howdy neighbor!

Looks like an expensive endeavor. I’ll try to get insurance to cover some of it

Is there a CGM that records 24/7, I want that… not press record before you eat to record 2 hrs.

Thanks

edit
Also do the CGM’s record Ketone levels?

Thanks again

All of them do that. The Free Style Libre captures 8 hours of continuous data. But you do have to download the data every 8 hours, or you’ll lose some. (Not sure why they did not use 10 hours, as if you sleep 8 hours, it’s hard to get all the data.)

There are continuous ketone monitors in development, but none on the market yet.
