What would say about your metabolism?

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #1

I think a lot of folks would say they have a slow, lame, poor, etc. metabolism… And that “every little bit of junk they eat, sticks right to them”. If this is true about you, I’m sorry.

Not me. I think I must have a great metabolism. I had to work really hard at being an obese pig. I’m one of these guys who really did lose weight very quickly and easily doing Keto. 40+ lbs in about 10 weeks.
I remember growing up, I had friends who who I hung out with all day, many days… Who ate no more, or no worse than I did. (we ate equally rediculous) and they ended up morbidly obese, while I only ended up a “measley” 300lbs.

Long story short, while I do have cr@ppy genes for building a lot of muscle fast, apparently I have a pretty good metabolism which allows me to lose fat fairly easily.

No excuses for my obesity. I’m just a food hog.

You ?

I’ve had/have a good/fat metabolism. I could eat a pound of pasta with cheese almost every day (and then whatever supper was) and maintain 125 +/- 5lbs.

I’m currently maintaining about 115. It will temporarily change if I fast or eat a whole bunch!

My metabolism died and is buried with my periods. I have a ton of muscle and gain it easily, but I’m like a whale, with a layer of fat over top, so nobody can see them. If you need help moving a couch, however, I’m your woman.

My metabolism is horrible! This is my own fault though, as I messed it up from years of anorexia, bulimia, binging, purging, diet pill and laxative abuse, and yo-yo dieting.

Mine was kickass until menopause when it tanked,- this is when I got fat and started to feel like crap- as I had changed not a thing about my diet and was actually less sedentary as the one of my kids who was allergic to dog dander, went off to uni so I finally could get a dog, and started walking 2h/day.

From ages 14-49 I could eat whatever, and did, and stayed between 115-125lb. I never gorged much though, but I could eat 12 in heros, fast food meals, ice cream, whatev, and not gain nor feel lousy.

Now? After 2yr keto I think it’s stabilized. Esp since going “almost-carn” the past few months.

My metabolism is whatever it is. I don’t believe I actually think about it much. The only thing I notice is that it must speed up somewhat if I eat past satiety, because whenever I do so, I sweat like a pig, regardless of the temperature of the room, and wake up in the morning drenched in sweat and with a sopping wet pillow.

Since I hate to perspire, this makes for an excellent reason to stop eating as soon as I am no longer hungry.

Never give it any thought tbh.
Fast / slow - no idea.

I would say my metabolism is repairing…anorexia in my teens, restricting/binging cycle 20’s-40’s…Keto 46+years, thank goodness

Had my metabolism tested a couple of months pre going keto and then 14ish months post going keto and surprisingly had no change. Yes I was overweight pre keto and at second test, l had lost 23kg / 50 pounds. So that result surprised me, also considering I’d been on a few (unwanted) rounds of Antibiotics in that period too; I really thought gut bacteria and various other things would have been affected. Maybe it is also some proof that eating a whole food based diet on keto principles really is a good proper way to eat.

When I first read the title of this discussion, I thought it was: “What would you say to your metabolism.”

I’d say “I’m sorry,” and “thank you.”
