What type of salt is best for EF?

fasting
salt

I generally take pink Himalayan salt when I fast. I’m considering taking canning salt instead because it is straight sodium, no other minerals. Any thoughts?

I prefer Redmond Real Salt. https://realsalt.com/comparing-real-salt-to-himalayan-celtic/

As between Redmond and Himalayan, it comes down to taste, cost, and environmental impact if that matters to you. Celtic is out for me since much it’s harvested from existing oceans (and all that’s floating in them).

I like pink himalayan salt, I find I get fewer leg cramps when I include pink salt in my diet, so I stick to the same during fasting.

I use Himalayan pink salt when I want sodium, it has some other minerals in small quantities that I don’t mind. Canning salt usually has some compound in it to keep it from clumping, etc. I have not seen a package of it that doesn’t include at least one more ingredient. If you can source pure sodium canning salt at a good price, go for it. Just remember you might need a few other minerals supplemented too if it is the only salt you use.

Just note that “pure sodium” (Na) is extremely corrosive, flammable and explosive, the canning salt is pure sodium chloride (NaCl) without anti-caking agents
