What the?!

(Danial Ficek) #1

So I did the Zornfast this week, 97 hours. Felt GREAT! Broke the fast yesterday afternoon with some hot wings and was full very soon. This morning, woke up and hit a ten pound goal (down 40 lbs since keto and fasting). Ate some bacon and then went to lunch with my wife and her brother’s family visiting from out of town. This is where it went downhill! I ordered unsweet tea, ONION RINGS, BOTTOMLESS STEAK FRIES AND A BURGER WITH THE BUN!!

I am so incredibly stuffed and a little pissed that I ate all that crap. Anyway, I’m thinking of doing another fast until Thanksgiving just to cleanse my system of this garbage. Glad we can confess on this forum haha

Don’t beat yourself up. Just learn from it.

Wow. Great work.
Time to get back on track … what are your further goals ?

(Shannon Miles) #4

what do you drink during the fast?

(Danial Ficek) #5

My weight goals are taken ten pounds at a time. So my next goal is to hit 218lbs. Further, I’ve been running so just working on getting to an 8 minute mile pace. Doing a 10k on Thanksgiving Day and a 15k in March.

@Shannanny24, I made some awesome bone broth so I drink that, water and then usually a BPC in the morning.

how long do you usually fast & how often? I’m on a two week binge  I miss keto! I decided to fast to jump back into it…:see_no_evil: not sure how that’ll end up

(Danial Ficek) #8

@Shannanny24 I’ve been doing 3-4 days per month. However, due to my massive lack of discipline yesterday (after I wrote this post I also went to Dairy Queen!), I started another 3-day fast last night to kickstart me again.

I should mention that the rest of the month I only eat one meal a day. Usually breakfast.

Thanks you’ve been helpful! & good luck to you!

Good Morning Daniel,

I don’t eat on Tuesdays and Wendsday each week and have little problem ending my fast. Not long ago, I did a 5.5 day fast and when I broke that fast everything was great for a bit, but after I started eating again I was quite a bit more hungry than I have been for months, since starting keto.

All most all of us have spent a life time eating SAD and it is going to take quite a while, and careful observation, to learn exactly what it is like to live keto with fasting. I think the advice to consider this a learning experience is just awesome, forward looking, positive. Congratulations on your extended fast. Just think of the autophagy and the down regulation of IGF1 and mTOR. Just think about what you have learned about living your new life.

I can be rather obtuse and often learn only from repeatedly making the same foolish mistakes multiple times. Mrs. Hanson would say that this is vanity and that realistically I am so stupid that I will never learn to just listen to what she tells me to do the first time.

Keto for Life,

Best Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the encouragement. What I found is that the first few months of Keto I was very strict. As I began seeing inches and pounds come off, I began making exceptions. It was then that I began IF and then decided to do EF. What I think is great is that fasting on the SAD would have been agonizing! On Keto, it’s extremely easy. With that, I decided after this big gorge session yesterday, I’ll fast three days and get back on track. Won’t even be a problem. Thanks again for the encouragement and have a great week.

Danial

Yes … that the truth … I am continually amazed at how easy it it to fast while fat adapted, incredible!

Many thanks for the well wishes, the Hansons are going to have a great week and our first keto Thanksgiving, and I wish the same for you and yours!

Keto for Life,
Richard

Keto aside, Dr Fung in his fasting book talks about how fasting is an excellent tool for avoiding the health issues with an occasional indulgence! Don’t beat yourself up, I’ve been there many times too

Do you just drink water on Tuesday and Thursday?

(Richard Hanson) #15

Hi Vicki,

I fast on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, about sixty contiguous hours each week, but I understood your question.

I drink water, coffee and green tea while I am fasting. I also take supplements.

Keto for Life!

Warmest Regards,
Richard
