What "keto" foods actually spiked your glucose or prevented ketogenesis?

I’m realize everyone’s different but I’m curious if there are some common culprits. I’ve been using my urine keto stix to test out various foods; keeping my diet pretty consistently under 10 net carbs except for the test food. While I don’t consider these sticks an accurate measure of ketones, I know that ketone production will produce some result even if it’s an anemic pale pink.

My first test was enchiladas made with 6g “net carb” tortillas. Theoretically they had about 9 carbs each with the sauce and cheese, I had 2, and everything else I ate in a 24 hour period totalled less than 5 carbs. Nada Rosa, so these are on my list of Keto Myths.

I have no definitive data to support this reply, but I would be highly skeptical of any conclusions between what you ate in this case and your urine test results for ketones.

The timing, lag, extent of effect, and strip accuracy would all make me inclined to refrain from drawing any conclusions in the case you’ve described.

As often noted around here, urine strips detect ketones that are being excreted … not neccesarily what has been produced or is being utilized … which are what one typically cares about in terms of carb-restriction and ketone measurement.
