What is a good way to keep my proteins down?

So I’ve been on my keto diet for about 3 months now! it was rough at first but I actually am quite enjoying it! As I’m getting more involved with my diet I’m finding out that I’m exceeding my protein goal by a lot… I do quite well with my calories and my carbs, fat is normally well under but my proteins are way over! my limit for protein is 100g!

In 3 months I’ve lost about 22lbs, so I am by no means upset with my results, but I read somewhere that too much protein can hinder your weightloss!

So what i’m asking is how do you get your fats you need without consuming a ton of proteins? is an exceptional amount of proteins bad for you?

Plan your carbs and protein in advance. That way you know in the morning how many carbs and protein you will consume. Full in the spaces in your hunger with fat.

Why correct what works? Seriously. If it works now, let it work. When you stall then make changes.

i’m not really trying to correct it, more or less just trying to educate myself, eventually I will plateau and would like to be ready for it. will overdoing proteins hurt my weightloss?

I aim for my protein goal and boost my fat intake with butter and oils. Coconut oil for instance has 0 protein and it’s 100% fat. Too much protein can stimulate an insulin response and kick you out of ketosis. There’s plenty of reliable articles on the internet that explains the whys and hows if you’re interested in the science of it.

It could but everyone is different and you will likely experience a few stalls along the way whether you limit your protein or not.

Take measurements now if you haven’t already. When the scale stops dropping measure yourself. Sometimes you lose inches w/o losing lbs. And then sometimes your body takes a break and nothing moves for several weeks.

I weigh about 116 and my (hormone) doctor told me I only need 50-55 grams a day. I could push to 60 but not more. 1/2 your body weight is a loose rule of thumb. I was eating more and my sugars were coming in at 110-115 fasted. As soon as I dropped down, sugars went down and Ketones went up. My doc has been doing Keto for 2 years and does Ironmans.

Sounds like an awesome dr. Is it working for you? Seems pretty sound advice to me.

Yes! I’m doing Keto to heal my gut. It’s been AMAZING. This is the best I’ve felt my entire life. I’ve always been a “clean” eater and constantly felt sick. This is a win win. Not restrictive and healing.
