What happens if I eat 50g carbs for few days on Keto?
I would advise anyone new, to aim as low as absolutely possible. Zero even. To help speed the transition into fat adaptation. This is my opinion only. But I think its a sound theory. It worked very well for me as well.
Another reason other than expediting the process is the creep factor. “If 20 grams is ok, what 1 more going to hurt?” Following that logic you’ll be up to 100 grams before you know it.
Once fat adapted, which is a step beyond ketosis, you can increase your carb intake for short periods of time. For instance, I recently ate half a large pepperoni pizza. I knew it would knock me out of ketosis. But it was worth it for the kids sake. (Long story)
Next day I was back into ketosis as if I never deviated. Sure, I probably put some weight loss on hold for about a day. But I keep that at the forefront of my mind if/when I’m thinking of eating any carbs. Including foods with only 1 gram.
If I wasnt fat adapted yet (which can take several months to attain) and I carbed it up like that, no only would it halt ketosis, but my body would just go back to being sugar burning mode, and essentially I’d be starting all over again. I’m not sure how much time that would have wasted to get back into ketosis, but I never wanted to find out. I stayed pretty much zero carb for a little over a year.
My BG was 150 after 30 minutes of that pizza. Two hours later it was 135. It was a little rough the next morning, being tempted to finish off the rest of the pizza. So I made bacon and eggs, and felt a lot better
