What do you miss the most

For me I really miss my Porridge (Rolled Oats)

I could have eaten this for Breakfast Lunch and Tea everyday, I loved it and I really Miss it.

Rolled Oats cooked in a pan with Whole Milk
Once cooked I then added 1 heaped tablsp of Peanut Butter and a big dollop of Natural Honey.

Funnily enough its Not the chocolate I miss (which I thought it would be) It my Porridge in the morning

If porridge is the biggest thing you miss then you may want to consider the Harcombe Diet which is a managed carbohydrate regime rather than a keto regime.

Sleep apnea, obesity, T2 diabetes, hypertension. and the 120 pounds that I don’t carry around everywhere with me any more.

(Carl Keller) #4

I miss the insulation my fat once provided. I now need a hoodie when the AC is running.

(Allie) #5

Never actually missed anything tbh, even at the start.

Pizza. I live near New Haven, Connecticut, known for its pizza (and just down the road from NYC, also similarly known).

I know, people will say, “Fat Head Pizza!”, but it’s not the same. And it’s also a cheese base and then we put cheese on top of that. It’s a lot of cheese. Don’t get me wrong, as an infrequent treat, it’s good. But it will never have the crust of real, wood/coal/high heat fired pizza.

Are you working out or lifting weights? I’ve reincorporated oatmeal after reading about many other people doing so in the keto lifting world and having no negatives from it. It’s actually not that glycemic vs actual bad carbs. That said, I do a maple brown “sugar” not milk and honey, no real way to fake that I guess. But around workouts we’re pretty insulin sensitive and that combination seems to work. I’d definitely gonna try the peanut butter thing though!

This is fantastic Mark that you have got rid of all that doing Keto! Well done.
You are an inspiration to me, as I have lost 36 pounds and have about 120 or more to go. I have a sleep apenea machine, and my blood pressure was high, more normal than before now, still not normal.
I only miss having tons of veggies…I still have veggies of course, but I used to eat them a lot and my apples with peanut butter I used to have every night. Well, I don’t really miss them anymore.

I did for the first few weeks, but not now. Really now there is nothing I really miss, which is a great feeling.

Yes, I life heavy weight 3 x a week after work. I also do 2 x cardio (cycling)

I have noticed that on my Leg day (friday) I have been struggling with my energy from just the straight Keto foods. I have been trying out my body as I have been Keto for almost 3 months now. I had a Burger and garlic Fries a few nights ago just too see if it would knock me out of Keto (only testing for Birthday treats or special nights out with family). It dropped my readings slightly but I still had Ketones in my urine, by half way through the following day I was back to normal. I might try adding in my Oatmeal on a Friday and se if it gives me that little extra boost I need.

I am still loving that I never feel hungry, unlike my Carb filled days before Keto.

Penut butter in the Oatmeal is the best …

The extra energy boost can be hard within keto…MCT oil.
Goes straight to your cells for energy.

I find that my energy levels are really high staring about 18 hours into a fast. Not till about 48 hours does it begin to drop at all.

(Patrick L Anderson) #11

I miss the days when I could eat without someone commenting on what I was eating. :grinning:

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #12

I miss having French fries with my kids.

#13

KetoConnect has a chicken crust. Very good. I made it both with canned chicken and all ready done rotisserie chicken. I did add some herbs from my garden.

(Heather Meyer) #14

Hmm… I think i miss Strawberries… i developed an Adult Onset Allergy to them last year(actual allergy not sensetivity) I especially miss them dipped in sugar free chocolate. That was my favorite dessert

YUP! Leg day’s started getting me as well, squats plateaued indefinitely, that’s literally what started me looking into the “other” side of people doing keto because it’s wasn’t an energy thing, “I” was ready to go, my muscles weren’t anymore. Pretty much determined that I (my muscles) hit their max while running on fat. Went with things like going back to higher protein, followed by a carb supplement that doesn’t raise sugar/insulin then things like the oats. I keep it around workouts and results have been good, haven’t had any cravings or carb hangover type things happen.

Mainly I miss convenience. There are not that many grab-and-go foods for when you just don’t have time to deal with shopping, cooking, and food prep.

Processed carbs are convenient. Dry packaged, sitting on the shelf, ready to eat. Easy to pour a bowl of cereal and some milk for breakfast. Versus frying up some bacon and eggs, then having to wash the pans after.

Also very few fast food options - no more grabbing a burger and fries for lunch and eating in the car while driving back to work.

I am willing to accept the loss of convenience for the improved health, but I do miss it.

(DARREN) #17

I guess I can relate to this one also. I am kinda getting fed up with the constant washing pans lol… I also agree when I am down the town or not around home and I feel hunger and I want something to eat I end up always eating cheese, which if I am honest is getting a little boring now…

#18

I just watched that recipe video on YouTube last night, can’t wait to try it out! I actually made their tortillas today lol, mine didn’t turn out as good as their’s look, but it works…only made 2 to taste test, carbs were like 1-2 for both total.

#19

Bummer!!! This happened to me with a handful of foods in recent years, worst was banana, peanuts, and tomatoes.

(Full Metal KETO AF) #20

Are you really “missing” these things Mark? They may be gone but I can’t see missing them. Personally I miss being 20. :joy: :cowboy_hat_face:
