He needs eight leads to contain his awesomeness, I can tell.
What did you take a photo of on your walk today? (feat. CHUNK)
True story. On an early Sunday walk last fall, I spotted someone struggling to remove a 10 foot tall-ish palm tree from his front yard. We’re in the south, but this isn’t a tropical climate. Palm trees require a good deal of attention here. Seeing him struggling, I figured I’d lend a hand. After struggling and playing with different leverage angles, we successfully unrooted and got the tree on his truckbed. Wherein he shook my hand and drove off.
Therein, it struck me. Did I just help someone steel a tree?
Ok, I promised goofy, but as usual, I disappoint.
Tea tree in Los Angeles, circa 1960’s. It was a great climbing tree for beginners.
We got more rain here in AZ bringing out even more greenness and flowers…
This is desert mistletoe:
Fiddleneck:
Lupine:
And saguaros, of course…
Looking towards Four Peaks from the Windmill Trail. If you look closely, you can even see the remains of the windmill for which the trail is named.
Mule deer:
More poppies…
They are amazing! You can’t tell from the pic but the Alpine Sage is ready to bloom. I’ve got sunflowers blooming in February. It’s amazing.
Ok, ok. Not walking but sharing anyways. Moose calf on my way home. Then two eagles above my backyard. My dog probably killed something to attract them… grr.
Maybe he doesn’t trust your directions after you got last a couple of days ago and he’s faking sleep
He chooses the route on longer walks, I just keep track of the general direction my car is left in
When I was at the University of Southern Colorado - now Colorado State - we would drive down to Tucson and hike for a week in the desert. It was spring time and I loved seeing the cactus blooming. Your pictures are beautiful!
He drinks from the empty acorn cup
the dew that dawn sweetly bestows.
And taps his cane upon the ground
signals the snowdrops it’s time to grow.
