A new pair arrived at the lake about a week ago. The male is ringed so I’ve been able to find out where he’s from so these so far unnamed birds are currently known just as The Bedford Birds. I suspect they wanted the territory so chased off my resident pair, Missy and Monty, which is upsetting as I’ve known Missy for close to a decade. Now it seems they’ve chased off my lone young adult female too, Micah. Very upsetting for me but hopefully better for Micah in the long term as she’s just starting to mature so needs to find herself a mate now.
Not what I planned at all, but nature is nature.
Now I’ll look after these two instead, and hopefully they’ll give me some fluffies to love this year
