What are your plans for New Years?

There are 5 of us couples who all live within a mile of each other and we switch off hosting the New Year’s party so you only host it every five years.

This year we don’t even have to get out onto a public road as the hosting family lives south of us on the private road we share.

It is a chance for the ladies to get gussied up, games will be played until 11 pm and then us old folks ring in the New Year when the ball drops in Times Square. We will be home in bed by midnight

There will be loads of carbage even though the host is on insulin injections for diabetes, red wine :wine_glass:, champagne I’ll barely sip when we cheer the new year and hopefully some meat and cheese we can nibble on. I have some Andouille sausage I will heat up and eat before we go so we don’t arrive hungry.

What about everyone else?

Day off from work. No special plans.

Sounds great, @Janie - have a great time!

Just the two of us tonight - we’ve had Prosecco and a lovely meal followed by cheese. Mr S has just brought me a cup of tea, and we’re settling down to watch a Bond film. Just under four hours to go until 2020, but I suspect we’ll be in bed asleep by 11!

Happy new year!

I’ll finish off the new year at work! I won’t get home til about 12:30-1am. I don’t really mind much as I don’t usually partake in New Years stuff. I was going to go to a family New Years party but will have to miss it! But I did make a bunch of steak, I have cheese and all sorts!

I was pleasantly surprised at all the protein options tonight. Shrimp cocktail, brisket, meatballs, tuna salad etc.

Was sad to hear of another neighbor who has been looking red-faced, puffy and inflamed for the last 2 years and his a1c was 7 and his fasting glucose over 240. He and his wife eat typical SAD carbage

I’m glad there was options for you, that is quite sad :frowning: i wish there was a easy way to talk to people about keto and not from a you have to do this sense, but rather to get them thinking about their health!

Currently 11:20pm here and I’m fairly buzzed on 9 shots of Tequila followed by a double espresso, about ready for s bit more! I needed the caffeine intervention but it cut my buzz! :tada:

Happy 20/20  :cowboy_hat_face:

Because my New Years Eve plans fell apart (mother of a friend dying)- I also fell into bed by 10:30 and slept through for 10 hours. Guess I needed that. But my New Years Celebration came this morning when I saw that I had lost another pound. Slow but OK- I`ll take it. Hooray!
Has anybody read “This is How you Lose Her” by Junot Diaz? It has powerful imagery, but it is oh so VULGAR. The author has prizes galore but I dont really get it. He actually doesnt say much, except to introduce me into the poor black-hispanic culture in America. Its depressing-- although supposedly all about love it seems more about sex and becomes quite explicit.I am not so prudish, but I dont really understand why this guy gets prizes for his writing? Anybody share thoughts? Explain it to me?
