What are you doing for Lent this year?

#1

If applicable, what are your plans?

Good question. Not sure yet. Likely will eat two meals a day on Friday, eggs and fish. Might fast until dinner some times. Just got back into fasting all day on Mondays until Tuesday.

As for giving up something, I don’t know what that is yet.

As for giving to the community, we currently do that.

You are supposed to give something up for lent, so I am giving up my New Years resolutions.

On fasting days I will do fish and eggs.

Instead of giving something up I am adding a daily faith-based reading. I always read the daily Mass readings and a corresponding devotional (from Blessed Is She online), and I will be adding CS Lewis’ The Weight of Glory.

That gave me such a laugh! But seriously I will be giving up my time, by way of doing something helpful for others, or in prayer. So not giving up food just my time

Giving up all carbs and doubling my meat consumption.

I’m going to continue to fast daily and give up all food on Fridays I think. Just makes it easier. No meat and a 24 hour fast.

I’m going to try and make daily mass if possible.

I’m not sure that’s within the spirit of things. (Speaking as someone who basically does that every day.)

I’m having a tough time figuring out what to give up. For me and my wife, our Mondays (and sometimes Wednesdays) are the best days to fast and Fridays aren’t great (best day for an early family meal, as the kids are too late other days). So, we’ll have to eat Fridays.

I’ve given up Twitter and alcohol the last two years. Looking for something different, but I don’t do much other than work on projects around the house. I don’t want to give those up (I’d simply be delaying them).

I gave up dairy, nuts and artificial sweeteners. I’ll have to do better meal planning this week as I want to transition to carnivore next week.
