What about cannabis?

Yah what about the gangi ? Any experience with the effects of either THC or CBD on either getting to ketosis or maintaining the ketotic state ?

We all know that THC can lead to all kinds of cravings and culinary excess. What else ?

Howz it been for you ?

I’ve tried a bottle of Phoenix CBD oil lozenges as part of pain mgmt but without any improvement. Or really any effect at all. Disappointing for all its touted benefits, but I think it proves the power of strict keto + IF to correct what it can.

Sounds like what you might want would be the so-called “skinny pot” plants, rich in a compound called THCV, which suppresses appetite. This article is from a couple of years ago, and there are new strains out now, but it’s a good overview: http://www.thecannabist.co/2015/01/15/skinnygirl-skinny-pot-bethenny-frankel/27564/

I’m a medical cannabis patient for a cancer diagnosis. I never ever smoke it; I use a vaporizer and also the concentrate oils. Vaporizing buds releases the beneficial compounds as vapors, without the harmful effects of combustion from smoking.

Have been reading up on how to get around the “munchies”. I’m also Keto, and also need to LOSE weight, not set off the munchies. So this is of interest to me, too. Some people use CBD only, and it’s not always effective; needs at least a little bit of THC to accelerate the desired results. And if the CBD is higher than the THC, then usually you don’t get a huge “high”. Unfortunately, not legal in all states.

Here are some names of strains I’ve read about for suppressing appetite (my first pick is called Jack the Ripper, which I’m waiting to come in at my friendly neighborhood cannabis store here in Oregon).

Jack the Ripper
Skunk #1 (makes sleepy, good for evenings)
GSC/Girl Scout Cookies
Cherry Pie (also said to be great for pain)
Willie Nelson
Dutch Treat
Pie Face OG
Moby Dick
Red Congolese
XJ-13 (I tried this, but made me sleepy)

These are only suggestions, since it’s variable how each person reacts to a strain. Here’s a great article about that: https://www.allbud.com/learn/story/big-guide-medical-marijuana-strains-what-can-you-e

Overall, if I’m careful which strain I use and what time of day, it’s been helpful to me.

Sweet ! What will you be eating during that 4 hours?

I’ve been doing 16:8 IF while pretty much eating either LCHF (23 net carbs) or pure Keto (10 net carbs) these net carbs are for my calorie intake wNting to lose 2.5 #s a week. 4 weeks about to complete and I’m 10#s down. Yay! My hubbie just went along w the IF and he lost 10 as well (!). He ate normally for us ( organic vegie fish plus 1-2 IPAs a day )

I’m real interested in your 20:4 - pls share more !

Oh I guess I might start w something more like 16:8 unless you find it real easy both physiologically and socially to go without any food for 20 hrs a day. Maybe you do !

Guess that might be dinners only or one meal per day. For 16:8 we just get up with coffee ( bullet proof for me - easy!!) and then don’t eat til 2 or so. Then either have a snackish thing then dinner, or a larger lunch and just a bit for dinner.
