Welcome my new buddy. This is Steele. He will keep me walking. Some of haven’t been taking care of ourselves. Now that I am doing that,it’s time to get myself a walking partner. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Is this because you’re living in an apartment, or China?

Nourish Balance Thrive had a fun podcast earlier this year on how having a dog reorganizes our lifestyle and behaviors to pretty much force us to be healthier.

Disclaimer: I really don’t like our Shih tzu but I’ve done what I could to be a good Alpha to him.

Because I’m in an apartment in China? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I’ve been here 9 years, but I am here at the pleasure of the Chinese government. They can always change their mind, as is their right.

I’ve thought about it anyway, but there aren’t any green spaces near enough to where I live. Parks are mainly paved, with signs in the grass to stay off. (Lovingly phrased, something about not harming the grass. Which always reminds me of Stranger in a Strange Land where the Martian telepathically knows that grass enjoys being walked on while flowers do not. So I feel sorry for neglected Chinese grass.)

I do see dogs around and about, but I just don’t like the idea of doggy paws always on pavement.

I do have one friend who believes a neighbor ate their dog. I was a vegetarian at the time, but even then that didn’t bother me so much. Killing my dog, yeah, that’s a problem. But I don’t really care if you eat it afterwards. My aunt had a pet cow that would follow her around like a puppy and stay inside a square of four 2*4s because it is a “fence”. As did my granddad’s rancher buddy who sold him half a cow every year. Pets are pets. Cattle are chattel.

So I guess the moral is… treat living things well, be they dogs, cows or grass. But once you kill them you can eat whatever you want.

Uh-oh, did I just jeopardize your relationship with the Chinese government, with this comment? :flushed:

Sorry. :anguished:

Nah, it’s cool. I just mean as a non-citizen foreigner, my life isn’t as stable. And it may not be about me at all, but the relationships between the governments. Some places are more predictable than others. That’s just expat life :sunglasses::vulcan_salute:

Honestly, I’m a little jealous. :grinning:
