Since she beat the rap, maybe there was something to it.
Weight Watchers stock hit hard by falling earnings
I prefer meat over all else - need I say more? I keep meaning to eat veggies every day, but I usually fill up on meat and cheese. It is totally sustainable. One cheat meal every couple of weeks does not cancel out fat-adaptation.
WW is a publically traded company with a very famous spokesperson. Wall Street learns earnings are way down. Analysts say the reason is competition from the open source “keto” diet. That story becomes national news. Add it all up and you have a $100 million advertising blitz for low carb eating. Ready or not, keto, or should I say Keto, is now main stream.
I don’t doubt you will be able to sustain this lifestyle with the motivation you have. Doesn’t mean you have to be as strict once on maintenance… but also doesn’t mean you will go back to 200+ carbs a day.
I never will. I am enjoying the benefits of running on fat and not being a slave to my hunger. Food does not rule my life anymore. I enjoy my full-fat meats and veggies. And the occasional potato. And zipping up my size 8 jeans and can still breathe when I sit down. I still have my 10’s that are really loose on me for slouching around the house on weekends.
A year and a half ago I was gripping the handrail tightly to get up and down my basement stairs because my knees and hips hurt so bad. Now I almost skip up and down because it makes me happy to be able to do so and not in pain.
Like I said - I am a lifetime WW member. WW never would have given me back my knees and hips. Keto, my ass Dr. Attia !!! How much did WW pay you to publish that???
This is how I feel. I’ve had the occasional higher carb meals and days. The only time it was difficult to get back on track was after that very first planned day off Keto. Otherwise, it’s been astonishingly easy to get up the next morning and keep on Keto-ing on.
I think this may be the key for me.
Eating a ketogenic diet has been one of the easiest things I’ve ever done, because I understand what’s happening to my body when I eat high carb/highly processed food.
Once there was that understanding, my food choices came naturally. I eat OMAD, I only eat foods with barely any carbs, but I have never been more satisfied with the food I eat, than I am now.
And it goes back to, “What’s gonna happen when I eat that donut, or how will I feel later, if I eat that plate of pasta?” Choices made not from a motivation to lose weight, but rather to feel good (healthy) on the inside.
Are you just waiting for all of us to end up deep in a bag of chips, just so you can say “i told you so?”
Let us do our own thing, you do yours… i find keto sustainable and im under 20g or carbs because that’s what works for me and I feel much better now that I ever did.
What keto taught us is that there is so much we dont know and this forum taught us that we need to be open to plans b, c, d and z…give up that condescending tone, nothing is 100%, not even your ideas.
I cant wait to see the weightwatchers keto bars and carnivore freestyle options!!! Then they will be telling us how to do this the correct way!!! I’ve been out of ketosis 2 times in the last 6 months. Both times for 3 days at a time. Both times were planned weeks in advance. So I have felt that “feel” keto gives me. And also felt what carbs give me.
I don’t think it’s the <20 grams of carbs that causes the problem. I think it’s the mind-set. Having an “all or nothing” mentality, as if that “20” was some magically perfect limit of carbs, leads people down the same diet mentality of all the other diets. If it’s a WOL, then you accept it and move on, without the drama of “falling off a wagon.”
I don’t compare keto/carb cravings to something like an alcoholic addiction for one simple reason. With alcohol, you CAN abstain completely. With food, it’s very unlikely that someone is abstaining 100% from carbs, whether it’s incidental carbs in dairy, nuts etc. Even if someone is carnivore, there’s a good chance they’re getting some carbs in seasoning, a sauce, etc.
So with carb cravings, you have to deal with at least some exposure so you also (in my opinion) need to be able to NOT use it as an excuse to binge or entirely give up on a ketogenic WOE. It’s a shame, if someone has 30 g of carb one day, that they would then revert back completely to pre-keto eating simply because they feel like they failed somehow.
Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers damaged my insulin sensitivity, wrecked my metabolism, and put me at a higher risk of T2D, heart attack, stroke and cancer than I would have been if I had never entered their businesses. If, after decades of watching their customers fail and get sicker, they still haven’t caught on that low fat eating doesn’t work then they deserve to go bankrupt.
Yeah, this thread really stands out to me as shockingly unsupportive and, frankly, unKetogenic Forums-type behavior from ASB. It rides the ragged edge between taunting and bullying. I’ve never seen it before in here.
@dlc96_darren I hope an admin has their ears up because this is not what I understand this site to be about and I will stop sending keto-curious people here if this is what they can expect from members.
Why did you call me out? We have lots of admins here.
Honestly, I think this thread has born some good information about Weight Watchers, and people’s experience with that program.
It would be nice if the conversation could continue without anymore personal attacks, but I believe the whole thread has just gotten too personal for those involved.
