Weight Watchers stock hit hard by falling earnings

I tried Weight Watchers twice. The first time, I lost a fair amount of weight on it. But I was hungry ALL of the time. It wasn’t much fun. The second time around, the WW leader fat shamed me at weigh in one day and I never went back.

It always felt like they were pushing an awful lot of WW food products. I honestly had no idea that now WW is a publicly traded company. Now I’m definitely not going to WW ever again!

.

I never liked this show for that very reason. I have a sister (who needed to lose some weight, but wasn’t as obese as I was), who really liked watching this show. I never liked the show. The coaches (?) were/are bullies!

#63

Not only are they (or at least JM) bullies, but they refused to take responsibility for the “relapse” of the contestants; they just victim blamed them, even tho they were directly responsible for tanking the contestants’ metabolisms.

(Diane) #64

Yep. That’s who I was thinking of.

Sadly, the bullying thing gets a free pass by the public because fat shaming is one of the last openly acceptable forms of prejudice. They deserve it because they did it to themselves, calories in, calories out, and all that rubbish.

Geez, if mental and emotional abuse actually worked, no one would be overweight past the first grade.

And also there is the motivation that if you paid for something you will stick to it to “get your money’s worth”. Like a new gym membership.

(Jennibc) #67

Don’t ruminate! Cross that bridge when you get there. You will have enough practice tweaking things on your way down to know what will work and what won’t. Instead, focus on how great you feel right now. :grinning:

There are a few people locally doing “keto kitchens” where they are basically a food prep service. So they will be having a particular keto recipe on Monday and if you want it, you order and pick it up that afternoon.

(Marianne) #69

Didn’t know that; haven’t seen her lately (I mean on tv, not at the bar around the corner).

Can you imagine with all the chefs at her disposal, the keto meals that these people could whip up for her! I know she loves bread and carbs like everybody else, but I think eating gourmet keto, especially, she’d be able to leave it behind.

(Marianne) #70

Dam skippy!

Fruit is the only thing I really miss, and I could take it or leave it before. Bananas used to skeeve me, but now I would really enjoy one. No biggie; small sacrifice.

Greatest thread in a while. Wife and I have had a good laugh this morning reading this together.

I relate to this in a huge way. We just purged our pantry this past weekend, it’s shelves are pretty bare. And we may need a 3rd fridge :hushed::woman_shrugging:

(Kay) #74

Having watched Dr Berry’s video I’m starting to think CARB crotch is a thing… maybe it was a typo? :joy:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #75

And now you have room for it in the pantry! Win-win. :+1:

(Stickin' with mammoth) #76

But I’m not bitter.

Believe it or not it’s still keto-lite even with the carb allowance!

Why Weight Watchers is actually a low carb diet - Dr. Peter Attia

”…The biggest single problem with nutrition “science” is that cause and effect are rarely linked correctly. Stated another way, it’s one thing to observe an outcome, but it’s quite another to conclude the actual cause of that outcome. …” - Dr. Peter Attia

They could tweak their menus and points and make it a deeper keto, it does not need to be full blown keto to burn body fat! (gawd I would luv to do that for them and save them from themselves, but what do I know? I’m just a rogue biohacking pirate lurking on the web!)

(Running from stupidity) #78

Not.

Has anyone ever made this claim? You can burn body fat simply by not eating.

(Stickin' with mammoth) #79

Yeah, but you can’t put fasting in a box and sell it. Oh, I’m sure they’ll try…I can see it now:

WW introduces Flex Fasting!
Binge on the weekend? Use too many points?
Receive absolution through starvation!

(It’ll feel like starving because nobody will be in proper ketosis when they do it.)

(Jane) #80

So 203 g carbs = 812 calories and on a 1450 cal diet that is 56% of your calories from carbs.

You consider that “keto/lite”? really?

There is nothing REMOTELY ketogenic about that macro.
