Is anyone doing the new weight watchers freestyle program, keto style? I just rejoined weight watchers because I need the weekly scale accountability. I also find the meetings give me a positive mindset for each new week. I experimented with keto a month here and there and I really like it. I feel better and my gut feels better when I’m doing keto right. I’m just not good at self monitoring the weigh in stuff. I want to see if I can combine the way of keto eating with the flexibility of WW new program. We’ll see.
Weight watchers freestyle program keto style?
I’ve been wondering the same thing, Rachel. I just restarted WW and was surprised how many changes they made with freestyle. With items like chicken breast and eggs now zero points, seems like keto is a real possibility. I’ve been doing some mock meals in Lose It for macros and comparing to the WW point count, and it looks good so far.
Here’s a sample day:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, 1/2 oz cheese
Lunch: 4 oz chicken, 1tbsp mayo, 1 cup spinach
Dinner: 3 oz salmon, 1tbsp butter, bacon and bok choy recipe (2 slices bacon and 2 cups bok choy)
Snack: Fat bomb (personal recipe), hard boiled egg
Total WW points: 25
Keto totals: 71% fat (86g), 27% protein (74g), 2% carbs (3.3 net)
Of course, I’m still playing around with it all but I like how it’s looking.
Go for the meetings, fake the data if you’re high on new points. Get the accountability, forget their program. KCKO
@LeCheffre thank you for your reply and encouragement
@doctorangelface love your post, thanks so much. I usually start my day with butter and coconut oil in my coffee around 6 am and I’m not hungry until 3pm then I’ll have, typically, eggs, butter, mushroom, cheese, onion, spinach. My evening snack has been 1 banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter (mashed and slightly frozen, fake ice cream) sometimes I’ll have shrimp stir fry for dinner instead of eggs.
I like how your menu is looking too! Thank you for the bok choy idea.
So far, on the scenic route, I’ve lost 7 lbs this month.
Im starting weight watchers this week and plan to continue keto. Most points will come from fat is the plan. I think this will work. Weight watchers will help with portion control, healthy fats and accountability and keto just makes me feel great. Is this working for you?
I lost 12 lbs from January to April. I guess that’s average. I have stopped going to weight watchers and stopped doing keto since April and I lost a total of 20 lbs.
(Total since January)
Thanks for this info. I have been doing Keto for months with very mixed results–mostly because of wine and doing things out of control (again/always)…so I decided to commit to WW. I have felt like crap all week and then thought…I love low carb becasue it keeps hunger in check. Why not do WW Low carb? So searched and found this. Very helpful and interesting that there are others who need accountability. I LOVE you ideas! Bok Choy with butter & bacon for the Win! How about the deviled egg?
A little guess:
Probably because you slowed your effort to lose weight by not manipulating your caloric intake, so you lost weight and maybe you eat better or more quality food (Whole Foods) and not so much sugary stuff?
Yep! Doing keto and WW freestyle. It requires some planning but it can be done.
I’m doing both as well and it’s working great. I read this article and it was very encouraging. Best of luck!!!
