Wegovy weight loss jab to be sold by UK chemist shops
Oh, goody! Much better to take a medication and continue to be able to eat chips, crisps, sweets, and fizzy drinks, eh?
Sounds like something a 'Govy would promote instead of good health.
Am just surprised that We’the’Govy here in the USA didn’t move first.
I know someone who was given these meds and she was proudly telling me how it meant she could only eat two slices of an extra large pizza instead of a whole one…
It’s going to do nothing to help change people’s mindset around food and learn better eating habits, and that’s what is actually needed.
Worse yet … like seatbelts made drivers somewhat less risk averse and football helmets led to more skull contact, I’m afraid there’s little to be gained for most folks by taking a pill to solve an eating problem.
Absolutely agree, it’s going to be a green flag for some people to just go ahead and eat whatever junk they like
So for all the people that use it while eating correctly to finally lose weight? Just because something can be used wrong, doesn’t mean it’s not life changing for others. I’m one of them, and my diet is more dialed in than many as is my training.
In my experience, people who “eat correctly” and people who resort to diet pills to lose weight are unlikely to be the same types of people.
There are certainly some people who need more help to lose weight, but this is not the “help” they need.
All this reminds me of is Sibutramine/Meridia which was supposed to “help” people lose weight by suppressing appetite (just like Wegovy) , until people started having strokes & heart attacks and then all countries banned it around 2010. Nurses have been warning all over the internet that this has a high risk of pancreatitis - no one wants to know.
It’s like we just never learn. They keep repackaging these drugs & we keep lapping it up rather than sustainable & healthy methods. Oh well.
I’m inclined to agree with this. There will be the exception, but on the whole, people who are able to make the lifestyle changes necessary are very unlikely to resort to pills.
Well that’s interesting because the same friend I mentioned earlier in this thread has just come out of hospital, currently seven months pregnant with very severe pancreatitis that had her in hospital for over a month and almost resulted in baby having to be delivered early… she is still at extremely high risk and very unwell.
The problem is that the weight is not the thing that causes the ill-health. It’s the thing that causes the weight that also causes the ill-health. So keep pouring carbs down yer neck and the ill-health will just continue.
Looks like a straightforward commercial profit making venture to me. Buyer beware.
