Wedding No. 2

(Marianne) #1

John and I had another wedding on 7/26. Here is the dress and shoes I got. Wore my falsies, too - eyelashes, that is. Googled how to pose for a picture but left the instructions at home. I couldn’t balance with one foot in front of the other, so I had to hang on to the wall. Going to work on my strength/muscle tone next. Not at goal, but just feels good to look normal and not obese.

You look very beautiful! That is a fabulous dress😊.

#3

You look beautiful! I would have difficulty posing like that too!

(Susan) #4

You look beautiful, Marianne, and that dress is really lovely =).

(Jennifer) #5

You are gorgeous! I love the dress!

Thank you - J.C. Penneys!

Thanks, everyone. Nice to have a dress up occasion to go to.

I’ve been working on how to pose in photos recently too. Even before I lost weight I’d been thinking about it because as much as I hate being photographed, I also hate that I’m in so few of my friend’s pictures. I’ve decided to get over it. And that means learning how to pose in a way that is natural and yet conscious of how the camera works and how to look my best. It is a skill to be learned like anything else.

Why don’t you try turning out the back foot a little bit, to both make it look more natural, and maintain balance? I think the goal with the one foot in front of the other is to look like you are taking a step. The illusion of motion while narrowing your body is what is flattering.

Also, fab dress! You look marvelous!

I found this helpful.

I also love that dress which you look amazing in. I love that you’re balancing on the wall. Was the wedding fun?

(Wendy) #11

You look marvelous, simply marvelous!
I can’t seem to walk in heals very gracefully anymore. How did that go?

(Marianne) #13

Thank you - I googled how to pose and printed some really great pictures, however, I left them at home. We were at an out of town wedding and my husband took this at the hotel. I had to rely on my memory - forget that! - I couldn’t exactly remember how to do it.

If you google it, you will be amazed at the difference between knowing what to do and just standing or sitting there to have your picture taken. There are several I saw that were “Do This, Not That” comparisons. It makes a huge difference. I detest having my picture taken, but at least now, when I have to, I can. Also, that goodness for digital. You can take a hundred pictures and wind up with one good one.

Best wedding I have ever been to - most gorgeous, elegant location. The day could not have been better - sunny, hot but not humid. String quartet playing for the ceremony and then on the veranda for cocktail hour. Wedding and vows were beautiful in addition to the venue. We took our first Uber ride (I could get used to that).

These may look like heels, but they are not - probably an inch to inch and a half solid wedge. They were very comfortable all night, which was a bonus. First time I had worn them. I could even dance in them.

(The guys are probably so bored by this thread.)

(Marianne) #16

You ain’t lying. I could be stone cold sober and not be able to pass a sobriety field test. I have no balance.

Agreed, super helpful.

God bless, and I honestly mean that in the purest sense.

It was fun.

Thanks, my honeys! I celebrate our victories as well. Love you guys (although there’s probably no “guys” on here).
