Wasting food

(Karla Sykes ) #1

I really hate wasting food because I grew up poor and on a budget but I have tried recipes that I don’t really like and at least gave it the benefit of the doubt made one plate but I don’t care to eat the rest and neither do my family. It is set in my refrigerator for one day and I feel so terrible about throwing in a way. I wish there was some way that I can recover it

You can try to recover it! I don’t know what the dish was, so can’t make suggestions. I will say there are many a keto dessert that I’ve tried that has gone straight to the trash. And I too HATE wasting food! I’ll eat expired food and scrape the green off the cheese lol.

Get a dog.

What is the dish? Perhaps we can help you come up with ways to salvage at least some of the ingredients.

Consider throwing away bad tasting food a “cost of doing business” in trying to learn how to cook healthy great tasting foods that will help you stay Keto compliant in the long run.

Happily staying Keto is your goal, not minimizing the waste of awful food.

We’ve got a dog and chickens and yet there are still a few things that go to waste. I expect if we also had a pig and a goat our food wasting days would be over but perhaps fortunately my wife has veto power.

I don’t know…wouldn’t it be kind of demoralizing if the dog wouldn’t eat it either?

It’d be even more demoralizing if the pig wouldn’t eat it… :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t waste food. I experiment a lot and my food isn’t always stellar but at least borderline edible, maybe I add something to it. I am experienced enough not to put 3 times more salt or sweetener into it if the recipe is wrong or just not to my taste  Looking at the recipe I can guess if I can eat it.
But as I really prefer to eat great food, I always make a tiny amount if I am not sure the result will be good enough. Yeah, almost the same work for just a tiny food but I prefer this approach.

I throw a lot of food. Different kinds. Drives me crazy. I try so hard for it not to happen but like my hubby eats bread. He lets it sit, it goes moldy and into the trash it goes. Then he says, hey I need bread…eats like whatever amt and then it sits and into the trash it goes.

I hate it also.

I have absolutely NO remorse throwing out foods. I hate it but I will do it easily.

I only like SO few meats/seafood reheated. Throwing out some leftover meat was tough for me but as I progress and change I realize this is going to happen and continue to happen. I got over it  I had to let it go for the sake of my sanity HAHA
