Washington Post article about how cereal is a horrible breakfast

Thought this was neat. Not encouraging actual keto but shedding light on how loading yourself with refined carbs wreaks havoc on insulin and how our obsession with refined carb breakfast could be killing us. “Case Against Sugar” is referenced.

Breakfast was the most important meal of the day — until America ruined it

Apart from the editorializing (“America” ruined breakfast? Sheesh!), the message is a good one overall.

Sadly, it’ll take more than a few articles in the WaPo to shift public opinion, as evidenced by some of the comments on the article. You’ll have to pry the Cheerios out of some of their cold, dead fingers.

Hee hee.
General Mills is a Minnesota company and they’ve been complaining of a drop in sales for a few years now.

Heh

Corporate headquarters are just up the road from my house. So strange.

Bonus? Hormel and SPAM is just a few towns over. JOY

A good little article. I stopped eating cereal years before going keto because I just got hungry again after a couple of hours.

Meanwhile, my partner has had more of a soft spot for cereals. He’s mostly low carb now but occasionally buys granola as a nostalgic snack and since being fat adapted he’s taken to putting cream on it. A couple of weeks ago he told me, “Y’know, I don’t think I really like cereal any more, I like cream.”

Yeah but guys - we Scots gave you plain, salted porridge (oatmeal) and you glued it together in funny shaped clumps with sugar. You probably need to own this one. :kissing_heart:
