I would also add, quite a considerable saving on buying the fresh veg I usually bought, Broccoli, Spinach, cauli, lettuce, tomatoes, Avocados etc on a daily basis. And then usually throwing the unused or past sell by date out.
Warning! This is not for the squeamish
That’s another perk I didn’t think about. Just threw out a bunch of veggies that rotted in the fridge last night! Thanks so much for sharing!
This is fascinating and i wish he was still blogging. But reading that inclines me to think that I’d like to keep diversity in my microbiome
Not sure if this will help, but I read that insufficient salt can contribute to constipation as well as not enough magnesium. I also use Calsium Ascorbate which is a buffered Vitamin C Powder and this has definitely solved constipation issues for me.
Actually, I think this might be dead on right. I’m experimenting currently with upping my salts to 5 mg per day (I was probably taking half that before) as well as more than doubling my daily hydration. Can you tell me how much and what kinds of salt and magnesium you take?
I understand it’s important to take sufficient magnesium so I take a 500mg capsule of Magnesium Glycinate in the morning and 1/2 a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) at night. You will need to be careful with this as you may end up getting the ‘runs’ until your system gets used to it. I use pink Himalaya salt with apple cider vinegar and sometimes add a pinch of Cream of tartar which is high in potassium. A lot of advise out there says you should not use Epsomsalt, but I find it works for me. Your choice! Good luck.
Hi People, just a quick update on going Zero Carb, started this way of eating on 1st June 2018. Still on it, no veg at all, and miss them not, diet consists of meats, fish, eggs, cheese and some thick cream. I feel good, weight was 9st 3-4 at time of start, and I have been trying to build muscle, so I started exercising a little more. I expected to put on some weight, I expected to put on more weight as my exercise routines dropped off because of the very hot weather we are experiencing in the UK these last couple of months (not complaining) . I do not look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, as yet. Weight about 9st 8lb, and as mentioned I feels sooooo good I shall continue on this way of eating. Just hope them extra pounds are muscle. (Although I do admit to having a few glasses of extra cooled white wine in the garden after work.) But hey, let’s not do away with a little enjoyment/pleasure in our lives. I have the recipe and can re-mix at anytime.
Best thing about Zero Carb or Carnivore or whatever you want to call it, you poo everyday, that’s right every day, for me just once a day. Magnificent poo’s, very easy to pass, I was going to say “easy to handle”.
Usually at the most inconveniently time of day. Only kidding, just after you arise.
I consume large amounts of fermented vegetables almost every day and that has helped my gut health. I make my own sauerkraut and Chinese Paò Caí and find less protein and more fats and low carb vegetables brought me out of keto stagnation as far as weight loss went. Better digestion, better poop.
