I’m sooo excited!
Doing a 22 mile WALK/HIKE tomorrow.
By myself!
I will start w/ an egg ham breakfast!
Wish me LUCK!
Who’s doing a walk?

Tomorrow? I may be able to fit in a 2-mile walk. I did that today. But not 22. Even in my fittest days about 7 miles was as much as I ever walked just for exercise.

I do 2 to 3.5 miles most days. My longest hike in one day was 14 miles, Colorado altitudes add additional challenges. That was a long time ago. These days if I hike it is usually 5 to 8 miles type hikes. It is snowing right now, if it keeps up at its present rate, will need to shovel snow instead of walking tomorrow.

I used to go out for fairly long walks. I’d get up early and do 3 miles on weekdays, and then on weekends would go for fairly long-ranging random walks, 5 to 7 miles. I am hoping to work back up to that by springtime when the weather is nicer. I had problems with my foot and ankle several years ago which prevented me from walking much. It has gotten better, but not back to 100%.

My goal right now is to just stick to getting in a walk 4 to 5 days a week to keep the habit going and to keep improving my base cardiovascular fitness. So far we’ve had a very pleasant fall so there have only been a couple of cold days I went out. If I can make myself get up at 4:45 AM and go out there in sub-freezing temps in the dark like I used to, I’ll know I have the habit locked in.

I use the 80 minutes of lunch and breaks to walk at work and ususally manage an hour on Saturday/Sunday. I have extra incentive. My left hip has declined in strength faster than the right side to the point where I was avoiding walkding. I started the brisk walking last May. Since then the step counter on my phone says I’ve walked 2.4 million steps covering 1,148 miles and burned 99,741 calories / 3500 = 28.5 lbs. I enjoyed eating all those extra calories.

My left hip still tires before the right side but if I can walk comfortably 35-40 miles a week how bad can it be?

That last mile was the longest, cuz i had to MAKE THAT DANG 22!..I was walking to My Friend’s house at mile 21 and I had to walk around the block 3 times to make it 22.
Determained!!
What a great day!

Great walk.

Good time too.

The trail pic above is lovely, as well.

Where are you located? How much of the hike/walk was through “the woods?”

I did 3.5 Sunday and another 3.5 today (Wed.). Plan a 5-6 miler tomorrow weather permitting. Will come near the end of a 48-hour, water-fast so I’ll have to load up on electrolytes prior to walk.

Walk will be along sidewalks in suburban Baton Rouge with my hound to see my brother and his dog.

I did a 10-miler last summer in 90+ heat. Used to do a lot of 20+ walk/hikes but that was decades ago in the MarineCorps.

Well the total 22 miles took 6 and a 1/2 hours. 3 and a 1/2 hours in the woods and 3 hours in my community getting to and from the woods.
Northern California, 1 hour above San Fransisco in Santa Rosa. It’s called Anadele State Park.
Miles of mountains tons of trails, it goes all over the place you could spend hours, it’s huge. Different types of terrains, a Lake, some flat grasslands, rocky stream beds… the weather was perfect that day.
The smoke from the Calif Camp fire finally subsided.
I try to do a 17 to 22 mi. twice a month.
I listen to stuff on my Podcast and create my life. it’s a good time to think and reflect. Plus it’s so easy due to Keto, i fly practically!!!
And no pain, a slight knee stiffness on the uneven rocky hike, but fine on all other terrain.
Sounds like you’re doing a great job !
If you want it, keep believing you can…you’ll get back to more if you just increase bit-by-bit, of course carefull if there’s pain!
I think a lot of what got me to be able to go this far is that I don’t have a car and I bike everywhere plus I take fun cycle trips 10 and 20 miles up and down hills so my legs are probably pretty strong from that too.
Good luck, keep us posted on your walking journey.
I encourage ALL to check in and share!
It’s just so amazing how our energy gets a boost!
:zap: SUPERCHARGE ! :star2:

Got rained out today but got in a couple of miles. Weather will be really nice by Monday for longer walks. Picked a bad time of year to walk longer in La., lot of chilly rains.

Am going to drive to my brother’s house and get exact mileage. Lol.

Like I’ve said, I’m not unfamiliar with longer walks. Just not always motivated to do so. But Keto is changing that.

When my knee replacement is up to it I can walk a long way. But it does have a little trouble in uphill terrain. Thankfully Louisiana is quite flat.

#18

Actually was able to work in 4.6 miles in 1:33. Not too bad. Tells me 6+ is easily doable. Good enough for age 68 with a knee replacement.

#19

WELL DONE, so happy for you, and yes, you will!!!

One hour after long walk I ended my 48-hour fast with sautéed jumbo shrimp, 2 boiled eggs and a little cucumber. During the fast I walked 3.5 and 4.6 miles. Resulted in a weight loss of 3 pounds. Down to 202.2 — my lowest since 1989! That big 200 milestone might just be a week away. Then it’s onward to next big goal of 180.
