Very sad news about Sarah Hallberg

(BuckRimfire) #1

Tragically, one of the (relatively) young titans in the low-carb world has stage 4 lung cancer. Sarah Hallberg’s work and videos have been so valuable. If only every medical provider could become familiar with her work, we’d be in a much better state.

Sorry if this is already in another thread, but I searched and didn’t find it.

I believe she currently is in remission, though. I could be mistaken.

In the linked article two weeks ago, she wrote “Although cancer will end my life, I still have some time, and dammit, I want it.” I didn’t take that as a super-rosy prognosis.

See this:

Dr. Sarah (@DrSarahHallberg) tweeted at 0:49 PM on Fri, Jul 10, 2020:
I want to thank everyone for all the amazing support you have given me. I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon and I remain in the fight towards improved health FOR ALL as I am remarkably still in remission. There is still so much to be done! https://t.co/jKwFIuFsvl

In its evaluation, the IARC concluded that outdoor air pollution causes lung cancer and is also linked to an increased risk for bladder cancer.

It makes total sense even on the basis of oxidative stress alone, and thinking of India and China with rising incidence of cancer, COPD, asthma, etc.

So sad to hear this. :frowning:

Sarah Hallberg is what a doctor really should be. Knowledgeable and focused on people actually getting better, rather than just drug-prescription. Kudos to her for making it public that most of the normal “guidelines” for diabetes are nonsense.

I hadn’t heard about this. Breaks my heart. She was one of the first keto/lchf people I listened to when I started out.

I saw her in Fat Fiction and thought wow, she is getting thinner all the time. Now I know why.

:cry::cry::cry::cry:

edited: glad to hear she is in remission currently.

According to her tweet, she is currently in remission.

Awesome! Here’s hoping we never learn otherwise!

I owe a debt of gratitude to all of the usual suspects in the keto world. But towering above them all, I really feel like Sarah Hallberg and her Ted talk saved my life. I was so inspired by her. I must have watched it all the way through 20 times or more.

I’m gutted.

This is a real shame. She may be in remission, but stage IV is grim news. Let’s hope the disease gives her as much time as possible.

Prayers ascending.

Am really sorry to hear this. My mom died of lung cancer 10 years ago, as have most of her siblings. They grew up in Michigan (UP), where there is a lot of asbestos naturally occurring in the soil. I hope she is in remission a long time! Very best of luck to her.

I know there’s another thread, but bumping this as it’s the easiest way to re-post the first link.

Want to reiterate my statement that she was a Titan of healthcare.

I loved her videos. They were a big part of what drew me to keto/low carb life style.
