Vertigo

(Pri ) #1

I am recently since last 3-4 days having all symptoms of vertigo. I’ll see my doc as soon as I get home( traveling) any one has experienced this. I think this is not due to keto.

Eat some sea salt and see how you feel. Obviously as you already know it’s best to get checked out just in case.

I think @Dread1840 is nudging you in the right direction. My experience with light-headedness went away when I increased the amount of sodium I was getting. Two+ teaspoons over the course of your day is a good starting point.

If you don’t see the vertigo quickly disappear, I would definitely get it checked out ASAP.

While light-headedness and vertigo can be signs of low sodium, they aren’t always. If your intuition is that this is not keto-related, then definitely see your doctor.

Yeah that was the basis of my comment, OP already stated they had plans so I figured salt couldn’t hurt at that point .:stuck_out_tongue:

You may want to research the Epley method ahead of time. It is a series of turns hike lying down and sitting up to move loose crystals in the inner ear. You will need assistance if you try it - maybe even email your doc ahead of time. Good luck!

A friend of mine does this and it is a great help. She walked me thru helping her once, turning her head in the right order.

Thanks all! I surely know this is not keto related because I know my body by now since I m doing keto more than 3 months. My sister insisted this is my diet so she made me eat lot of carbs since last 3 days and I did because I was desperate to feel better. But nothing changed I even thought I might be pregnant but no I am not( thanks god) I have 2 kids under 2 :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. So vertigo most probably.

(Chris) #9

Did you see the doc?

(Pri ) #10

I am out of town I’ll as soon I go back.

(Chris) #11

Awesome. I ass soon sounds pretty quick!

Could be a middle ear infection, but you would probably not be functional at all, if that were the case. Do see the doctor as soon as you get home.

Depending on the cause benedryl or dramamine (motion sickness med) both usually sold over the counter may help. I think if I was really suffering, I’d give them it a try.

These are antihistamines and can cause drowsiness (I see you have two little kids to take care of) so be aware.

So I went to see doctor yesterday and yes it is vertigo. He gave me some exercise to do. I am comforted by the fact it’s not serious health issue. But I am suffering by this for sure.

I had a bout of vertigo this year.

I’ve been LCHF and ketogenic for over 4 years.

Everything was spinning.

I kept eating keto. The medical doctor put me on very low dose valium (2mg), which helped. But the symptoms totally resolved after I saw a physiotherapist who was a specialist in neck manipulations.

Plenty of health conditions show up in the normal course of life. Some keto-related, some not. I just notice that recovery times are quick while in ketosis.
