Vaping and Keto

(Nick) #1

Hey all,

Brand new to Keto, bit about me, I’ve been diagnosed pre-diabeteic, and need to do something to try and hopefully curb it before it gets any farther. I’m excited to start Keto and see where it leads as I’ve watched a close family member absolutely crush it on Keto. I have lots of questions, but something I may have missed in my search here. I’m an ex cigarette smoker and now vaper and I’m curious…Does anyone know if vaping will keep me from achieving ketosis? I’m worried that the sweet flavor(fragrances) will inhibit my ability to become fat adapted. Just curious if anyone has wrestled with this question as well and how your progress has gone?

Much appreciated for your time.

I only vape cannabis but maybe @PetaMarie can answer your question. She’s an ex smoker who vapes. :cowboy_hat_face:

Welcome to the forum, Nick. I’ve been a vaper for years and it has not affected me at all doing keto (afaik). Just finished up my first year and have lost all the weight I needed to lose plus improved other health issues. I would just caution that every body responds differently. Good luck on your keto journey. :sunny:

Thank you!

I have a ‘74 LP Deluxe Gold Top. Nice :+1:

I actually sold the gold top to by a Tobacco burst traditional. Can’t believe I used to avoid Gibson! I’d like to own a vintage one at some point.

Nick, Is it just me… or is there any irony in having traded in your LP Gold Top for a Tobacco Burst trad… being the same guy who took up vaping to quit smoking?

Nah… probably just me

Welcome! And best of luck with your new eating habits.

I have a ‘74 20th Anniversary Black Beauty Custom too, and a couple ‘70’s Fenders. A Thin Line Tele and a Hardtail Strat. Collecting guitars for 40 years and they add up! What kind of music do you play? :cowboy_hat_face:

Let me tell you a funny story…hahaha I love my gibby and the tobaccoburst kept calling my name! The gold top was lovely, but the heart wants what the heart wants!

More of a modern rockish sound. I come from a metal background, mostly self taught on guitar. Anything that has alot of melody. Sort of in the vain of Foo fighters. I’m extremely jealous of your guitars. I’d like to have a bunch but financially cant at the moment.

Well, as long is the topic stays on cardio issues… my heart has long wanted its current collection of stringed things: Fender Am Deluxe Blond Ash/Maple neck Tele; Martin D28; Ibanez Artcore natural blond semi-solid body jazz box, one finely aged (40+ yrs) Takamine classical, along with a dobro, banjo, and a couple of lap steels. Then there are the keyboards… :revolving_hearts:

If you want our old metal ep is on spotify, or you can find my first bands ep on youtube

Spotify: Motion Failure [Shades of Self]
YouTube: Gateways[Paradigm Shift]

Shameless self promotion😁

…oooh! … aaah! Nice

The list goes on and on hahaha. I’ve got a couple nice banjos but haven’t set to learning them. I’ve been working on learning piano(keyboard) and just getting the ability to do multiple things on both hands. Fun challenging work. I’ve had my eyes on a few Martin’s but price tag… yikes

Nope, it doesn’t seem to effect my ability to remain in ketosis.

It doesn’t have an effect. you can vape without a shadow of any doubt that it’ll be harmful for you. By the way, when I was just at the beginning of my vaping journey I didn’t know a reliable site where I could buy all these products. My friends, veterans in vaping, advised me to check online shops. They suggested to look through this page - aquavape.co.uk as they offer wide array of products. I ordered a pod and e-liquids. Liquids are definitely of the highest quality and I enjoyed them. Great online shop! I suggest you surf through their page.

I switched to vaping 5 1/2 years ago. Got serious about diet, exercise activity, and rest 2 years ago. A lung exam and xray a year ago showed everything Aokay. Lucky me, may be it will be the same for you. Take the long view. I believe fat adaption continues to improve after 2 years. I believe activity is as important as food. Most of my fitness progress has been made walking. Getting the recommended sleep has been worth the effort. So far I’ve been able to reduce fat, increase muscle mass, and normalize bio markers. Seems to me we are designed for whole food, low carb, and a wearingly large amount of activity.
