Vacation - Scared to Break!

fasting

I am heading out to a 10 day vacation soon, bought some “keto first aid kit” with nuts mainly.
Hoping to hear some tips from the experts - this is a self tour with my family though a country in Europe, driving to daily one day journeys everyday
I am thinking breakfast (eggs, cheese, avocado) and then a long day outside - coffee/water/nuts/ what else?

and then a late lunch early dinner with meat / fat

might be a but hard to IF from then until the next morning, will try

What do you propose?

Enjoy your holiday and make that your priority.
If you come off track a bit, it’ll be nothing you can’t fix when you get back.

If you want to remain keto:

Try to stick to the fattier nuts, mostly macadamia, walnuts, pecans, (pili nuts are ideal). Careful not to overdo them.

Other ideas: jerky (watch the ingredients list), single-serve fat/oil packs

Absolutely this. This is your vacation! Don’t log your food, just make healthy choices and don’t make food your focus. Enjoy the sights, outdoor time, etc.

Thanks Guys

I got nuts for sure - question is can they can carry me from breakfast to late lunch / dinner
We dont have Jerky here - I hope I find in Austria

I feel your pain. Going to be gone for about 2 weeks in a country where I don’t really speak the language. I’m not sure people who don’t travel really get it: there possibly IS no such thing as a bowl-of-green-leaves, or a-bag-of-nuts, or jerky, or eggs-as-breakfast, or just-meat-leave-off-the-noodles/bread/stuffing. I believe every culture has some keto friendly foods, but I’d advise researching this before you go and hopefully knowing some local keto-friendly dishes. (I’d also advise giving yourself a bit of a break. Sure you can recognize Gelato over Cake and Gnocchi Pizza as a bad idea, but if something amazing and unidentifiable is served with A Sauce … oh heck, have some. :yum:

I definitely had some recent pre-vacation anxiety before a 7-day trip to San Fran. Turns out, I happily indulged the whole trip on best-i-could-do items throughout and ended up losing a pound that week!

I honestly just worried about avoiding the carbs and whatever else goes. Some things I remember having: salmon and shrimp with a side wedge salad, mushrooms in cream sauce, chicken with a creamy sauce, lots of cheese. Always turned down bread and desserts, opting for antipasto or a rich appetizer instead. I kept little packs of olives with me, Duke’s brand jerky/short sausages, and had protein shake mix and chia seeds with me for emergency fixes. Just really look for fat and fill up when you can!

I actually found it less stressful to travel this time because I wasn’t distracted by hunger all the time, looking for the next place to eat. Keto is so fillling and it helps in these instances!

Yes, to that. I find traveling so much easier, if on the plane or in the car, fast or bring along Keto snacks. When you get there realize everything might not have “your” oil. a small amount of canola oil isn’t going to disrupt all your hard work. I am sensitive to gluten so as long as I avoid that and other very starchy veggies and any fruits besides my regular ones, I do fine. Once you relax with that, then it becomes easy. I no longer gain when I travel, and I think the reduced stressing out has a lot to do with it.
