Urgent: Liver Failure due to Alcoholism -- Would keto help?

#1

Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic and ketogenic diet has done wonders for me with blood sugar, liver enzymes, blood pressure, lipids etc. (It’s also dramatically imrpoved my friends stats as well including a big improvement in liver enzymes.)

I resell flea market items on craigslist and ebay and well this one lady was calling about this juicer I was selling on craigslist. She said she wanted to get it for her son, because her daughter said juicing does wonders for the liver. Is this true? Seems like he’d be exposed to more fructose without the protective fiber element. Juicing a lot of fruit… drinking all that fructose… seems like extra fat would be put into an already severly damaged liver. He’s in a really bad state, hallucinating and what not.

I told her I’d research this and ask questions on her behalf with respect to her son’s alcoholic liver failure and a low carb diet.

Anyone know of someone with liver failure and had dramatic improvement with keto diet? Or perhaps intermittent fasting? Or is the juicing a really good idea? Perhaps juice a lot of veggies?

I have no clue. I told her I’d pray for her son.

I’m sure keto would help to a degree - and you’re right and I don’t think any amount of pulp can undo the damage all the fructose could wreak. It really depends how bad his liver is…and I’m not a doctor but keto may improve quality of life greatly.

I’m yet to see any reputable information that shows juicing as being good for ANYTHING, so I’m interested as well.
