Update- I think I’m out y’all

Hello friends. Back in February you may have read this post.

Well, I wanted to take a moment to update you. However, there isn’t much to report. My weight, blood work, and measurements have all remained the same. My energy levels have gotten better, I’ve been hovering between keto, LCHF, and a paleo diet. I’ve been following a cycling syncing diet a la Alissa Vitti and Flo Living, which did help my hormonal acne and PMS depression disappear. So I am happy about that, being tired all of the time was not fun. Through blood testing, I have been able to stay in ketosis fairly often, my body seems to be able to handle a higher amount of carbs and staying in ketosis.

Things I have changed that may contribute to my higher energy levels (I can’t pinpoint one):

  1. Increased salt intake
  2. Iodine supplementation
  3. Incorporating maca into my daily routine
  4. Getting back into exercise

What I think the problem is: Cortisol.

I am a teacher. And while I don’t feel the traditional stress symptoms, but there is no way that I am not stressed. Today is my first day off for the summer, and I will be focusing on meditation, long walks, exercise, and good sleep. I will report back when if something improves. I will also be making an appointment with an Endo to try to confirm if cortisol is the issue.

Hey there! I’d really be interested to know what your endocrinologist says, so please report back. I have fatigue issues as well. I wonder about the overall effect of chronically elevated cortisol, but I don’t know if there is a good way to test for it, since even with chronic stress there will be fluctuations in cortisol level. If there is, I would ask for it too, so I’m interested to know what that process is. Thanks so much and best of luck to you.

I could have written this post a few years, right down to being teacher and a grad student.

I didn’t follow the last thread, but I wonder how thoroughly they checked your thyroid. You need free t3 and t4, reverse t3, and antibodies in a edition to the TSH and t4 they usually do.

If your thyroid isn’t working properly your adrenal system will try to keep up, until it all gets overwhelmed and crashes.

Teaching is the hardest job you’ll ever love.

They didn’t check it as they should have, and talked to me like I was crazy when I asked about the other tests. I can’t afford the online testing right now, so I’m going the Endo will be willing to test.

Good luck with the endo and enjoy your break. I have 3 more weeks to go.
