Iv been on keto since April 16 2018 starting weight was 184 and as of Monday june 18 2018 I am 165. I can’t believe keto actually works. I don’t think there is any other diet that you actually eat food you enjoy , feel full and don’t have to work out. My goal is 140 . It is hard at first because every body is different , I have to be more strict to see results or I have notice my weight loss is very slow. I can’t have any sugar - not even sugar free stuff , I will still be in ketosis but won’t loose weight ( well I will but I notice it’s only 1 pound maybe a week) I have cut out sugar completely and stick to eating the same things every day - I don’t get board because I really only eat twice a day and a small amount because I am not hungry plus seeing the results keeps me going. I also don’t work out, occasionally I’ll go for a 30 minute walk but the last two week I have done no excersise and have lost maybe 6 pounds . I am so happy that this is working, it can be frustrating but keto does work you just have to find your own program to follow within it. I know some people can have higher amount of carbs or sugar free stuff and still loose lots of weight. I however can’t do sugar free but sometimes I go a little over 20 carbs and am still fine. It’s funny to think this works because I literally come home from work and eat a mini cheesecake bite and go to bed and I loose weight . People don’t believe me that I eat cheesecake or chocolate ( choczero brand only - its keto ) and that I’m loosing weight. Yes I eat candy and loose weight! It’s crazy . Sorry this post is a random mush of my thoughts I’m just excited and feel this is the only place I’m able to share where people understand or care
Update- happy success story
Fantastic, something to think about, watch that you get enough calories, to much restriction and the body will work hard to keep every bit of your extra weight.
I feel the same way! I can’t believe this is working so well. It’s the key for me! I have finally found what my body needs to be it’s best. I can’t look at all the years of “dieting”, only moving forward from here.
I have to eat less, I was eating on accident like 2,000 by just eating whatever I wanted and not tracking. Now that I track I’m under 1,300. I just eat when I’m hungry but I pick better foods that aren’t high in calories so I can be fuller or less calories .
I felt the same amazement with keto! I started on 2/13/18 and I’ve lost 47 pounds with ease, but the last month I have struggled by gaining and losing the same 5 lbs for 4 weeks.
This is really bothering me because this would happen on other diets and eventually I would get frustrated enough to give up.
I need to get this ball rolling again.
My lose-it app had cut my calories down to less than 1300, after reading about slowed metabolism on here, I changed my deficit to ‘maintain’ and am now at almost 1800 calories.
I had a goal of 250 for my birthday on May 20th and I missed it by 1 lb, yesterday I finally hit that goal!
It gets so frustrating when I’m motivated but my body isn’t!
I renew my motivation by trying on clothes that I couldn’t wear before.
I would say, be careful of too few calories. It starts out great but ends badly if not corrected.
Rather than restricting calories that much, you should look into fasting like ADF. This won’t hurt your metabolism like continuous daily calorie deficits will. If you keep up with restricted calories, eventually you are going to lower your metabolic set point (the amount of calories it takes to maintain weight).
You are doing great, I am glad you have found a way to do Keto which works for you and is reaping results
I feel the same way. For most of my life my weight has been really cyclical. I get into fantastic shape, hang there for a couple of years, and then start to backslide into obesity again.
I was starting my latest backslide when I decided to try keto. I was at the point where I was still exercising daily, making strength gains and staying in relatively good shape, but my diet was getting progressively worse. It was really depressing to find myself in the same pattern yet again, but seemingly not be able to arrest it through the CICO means that I always used to get into shape to start with. At some point i just stop being able to reliably resist the carbs and it’s all downhill from there.
Keto has indeed arrested my backslide. As of right now I’m probably no more than 5 pounds from my goal weight, and I feel like I can maintain this woe indefinitely. The abs are making a reappearance! I really picked a good time to change it up too, because I hadn’t yet given up on the daily weight lifting like I always do. The lament of many a bodybuilder who is cutting weight is how much muscle and size they lose in the process. Keto has allowed me to preserve an unprecedented amount of that muscle I’ve built while losing weight at the same time! It’s really like finding the cheat code for me.
