Who is Professor John Speakman?
I posted this information so you could chew on it, and spit it out.
Made me sad and wondering who pays for studies like these? I’m mad, and the research mice are mad too.
Saw a video with Dr. Benjamin Bikman whose speciality is insulin research. He mentioned that testing in mice will not necessarily provide info that correlates with human metabolism. For example, putting mice on a 90% fat diet, will not induce ketosis, whereas a 90% fat diet will induce a human into ketosis.
Prof. Speakman may be correct about fat’s influence on weight gain – for mice. However, Speakman is incorrect about a rodent’s metabolic similarities with humans. Therefore, the evidence does not provide a good clue about high fat diets in humans.
See from 25:26 on Bikman’s comments about ketosis models for rodents vs. humans.
Thank you for providing the video–I enjoyed hearing Dr. Benjamin Bikman talk about insulin, human body fat, and ketones. I watched the suggested 25:26 segment. Now I’m going to watch the entire video. Awesome. BTW, your response was lighting fast. Thanks.
