Undigested food in stool

(Sarah) #1

Hi guys, Sorry, folks, for the grossness about to come here…

Been on this for about 15 days. A little diarrhea, but otherwise ok. Last night I skipped meat (had a lot ealrer in the day), and just had steamed broccoli, with a bunch of cheddar cheese and a couple tablespoons of pine-nuts. This morning I could still see nuts in the stool. I usualy eat a fair amount of nuts, and this has never happened… I may have been a little dehydrated, but that wouln’t have been the cause, right?

Do I dare point out the obvious… chew your food if you want the nutrients. The digestive tract is on average an 8 to 12 hour duration and harder solid items do not get broken down much.

Now, if those broccoli crowns were still green and bushy, you’d have something to worry about.

If this were to continue to be an issue it can be a sign that that is a food you should not eat. It may also be a sign of low stomach acid oe digestive enzymes. I supplement both at every meal. There seem to be a few foods I don’t digest well, I’m thinking of you almonds!
