UK best shops for ingredients

People in the uk, which is your go to supermarket to get most things in one place?

Also, it’s quoted frustrating that there are sections laid out for vegetarians, vegans, free from intolerance range, but not one tiny little corner of a shelf section for ketogenic dieters!

Any supermarket is fine you just need to limit the aisles you go to.
I usually shop at Waitrose because I find they have the best quality produce at the right price but get all our meat from the local(ish) butcher.

But isn’t it hellish trying to find full fat dairy stuff ? Ask for full fat yoghourt and you get a look normally kept for the buyers of Perverts Monthly.

Its on the shelves you just need to read the labels…

All those are about 10% fat… just need to identify the right one’s and just buy those…

I think the issue is that there is not so much profit in real food.

They have all these niche zone shelves for the processed crap because it costs pennies to produce and they sell it for pounds. The commercial interests are served by pushing as much of that as possible. They cannot do the same for the meat, fish and full fat dairy products which we prefer to purchase.

Admittedly, it’s been quite a few years since we’ve shopped in the perhaps more enlightened south. I was relating to shopping in Glasgow mostly when we visit family. You’re presented with a total array of f*ck-all fat stuff and I’ve really had to search through the top and back shelves to find the odd Yeo Valley real yoghourt. So much so that sometimes I’ve had to ask an assistant, and in the Co-op I was told that “Naebody wants that ony mair !”
And it’s been years since I’ve seen real Crème Fraiche in Scotland. Nothing at all like this…

But the bastards are at it in France too ! There’s more and more low fat tasteless junk being put on the shelves now…fortunately that’s where it mostly remains. I just hope the bean-counters get the message !

I want to 3 supermarkets and couldn’t get full fat cottage cheese, eventually found some at the farm shop.
In tescos yesterday I asked if they had any coconuts, I was taken to a shelf in the baking section and given dried coconut, I laughed and said ‘no I mean real coconut’, the guy shrugged and said ‘oh no we don’t sell them’, so I asked where the almond butter was and he asked ‘what’s that’!!!

Almond flour I can only find in Holland & Barrett for £8. I rang Costco to see if the stick Keto bread - they don’t.

I’m begging to think people only lose weight because the can’t find anything to eat!

I do nearly all my shopping at Aldi - it’s great for well-priced basic ingredients. Once a month or so, I do a Waitrose order with all the bits I can’t get at Aldi - certain types of tea bags, seasonings etc. I think it depends on how you Keto though - if you’re looking for simple ingredients to make your own food, any supermarket will do. On the other hand if you’re looking for specific keto products then I don’t think m/any of the uk :uk: supermarkets are currently geared up for that kind of provision… maybe that will change in a year or so if keto continues to grow in popularity!
