Well hopefully this goes nowhere…
Ugh, meat tax for the environment?
Instead we should have a fossil fuel tax since that’s where all the damage they blame on cows is coming from. And said tax should not be taken on by the public, bleed the corps dry. It’s their lobbying that lets this unsustainable energy model thrive.
How about getting rid of sugar and farming subsidies? However, we’re rapidly moving from health to politics and that’s not the function of this forum. For people to howl at the wind there’s hundreds of other forums. Let’s not pollute the collegiate and helpful eviroment of this forum with political vitriol.
I was just frustrated to read this and wanted to make some people that care aware. I presumed it went in the catch-all category
I agree with your sentiment. Eat more meat!
The only reason I mentioned it is the meat tax is based on some science-free hooey that raising livestock is bad for the environment. My statement is incredibly relevant as NASA has recently discovered that this is not the case at all. It’s smoke and mirrors.
EDIT: Also, who collects taxes? This discussion is political, like it or not.
I am not much approved of using taxation to implement policy rather then for the purpose of provisioning the treasury, bet if we where going to utilize such schemes then it would be much better to impose a health tax on carbohydrates.
Say $1 on each 10g of sugar and $1 on each 100g of other none fiber carbohydrates.
Such a tax would fund medical care for those suffering from metabolic diseases as a result of consumed the government mandated SAD.
Keto for Life!
Warmest Regards,
Richard
We’re all good. I think it’s a bad idea for health reasons (among many others). But I’ll stick with health. Anything that pushes people further toward carb consumption with 2/3rds of the US population in or progressing to T2D is bad public health policy…
