Two months in and

#1

I’ve only lost about 7.5 - 8 lbs. I know some of you out there will say that’s great and I’m not complaining per say BUT i can’t help but wonder how cutting out sugar completely and not cheating at all (to my knowledge) isn’t resulting in the weight melting off quicker? I’ve been cico for years and have always seen results quicker than I am now, but obviously would like to lose weight in a healthier way this time and overall feel better with more energy, which i do for the most part but I did start the keto woe admittedly to lose weight.

I guess my question is what am i doing wrong? I was strictly tracking on an app at the beginning and most advice i got from here emphasized forgetting macros and tracking and just focusing on the basics. Could carbs have crept in while i wasn’t tracking? I haven’t gained any weight but the scale hasn’t budged in a while and I would like to fit into clothes from before having my children. I don’t really drink alcohol, maybe a drink here or there every couple weeks or so, i do love cheese, and hwc and use it where and when i can. eggs are totally my friend and who doesn’t love bacon. I have also found that I’m not really as hungry or craving food as much as i used too but I struggle a bit with finding appropriate food to eat when hungry as well.

So how do i prove that i’m eating strictly keto? go back to tracking? I have to admit i haven’t been exercising either, I’m assuming that will help me shock my body again? I do feel like my performance isn’t great at the gym lately. I have been fasting here and there as well, if i’m not hungry and i’ve eaten dinner at 8-9pm, i dont always eat breakfast and go straight to lunch.

i want to keep going and i know it’s only been a couple of months but i’m getting a little impatient with the slow weight loss, is this to be expected?

KCKO

I’m not sure who would have told you to forget macros and focus on the basics in the same breath, as you need to pay attention to macros since those are the basics (unless lazy keto); especially if you’re trying to lose weight.

I would go back to tracking with the app OR paying extra close attention to food labels. It’s possible carbs have snuck in, but it’s also possible your body is healing itself behind the scenes.

Feel free to post a few days’ diet here and I’m sure someone can maybe help figure out what might be the problem. Good luck!

Short answer: yes, it’s very expected.

It’s so expected there’s even a term for it. PISS.
Post Induction Stall Syndrome. The term actually originated from the Adkins diet but it applies to Keto too. Your initial weight loss was your body depleating it’s glycogen stores, which is about 75% water. Once this happens, your body begins to hold in water when you rehydrate to compensate for the loss in water. At which time your weight loss will slow down, stall and sometimes even gain.
But that doesn’t mean you aren’t losing fat during their time. Take measurements. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Richard from 2ketodudes had an 18 month stall, but he lost 8 inches from his waist during that time. It’s body recompositioning where lean body tissue is replacing fat. The scale may not show weight loss but you are getting smaller.

And isn’t that really the goal? Not some number on the scale.

I think you misunderstood. Some people will advocate for not tracking, but they aren’t saying forget about macros. They simply chose foods that allow them to stay within macros without much tracking. For instance an all carnivore diet will mean virtually no carbs.
If you can stay under on carbs without tracking, great. If not, then by all means you should track.

I did finally make the effort of taking measurements exactly a month ago, I will measure again when I get home. Now I’m curious to see if there was a change…

Ok so I just measured again after exactly 30 days, lost 2 inches across my chest half an inch on waist, and altogether about 5-6inches in total including arms thighs etc. not sure if that’s a lot for a month but at least it’s something and it’s motivating to see that I’m losing inches even though the scale isn’t moving. Wish I would’ve lost more on my waist but it’s a start.

Trying to figure out how to accelerate the weight loss perhaps adding exercise will do the trick.

Yeah, I think there are a lot of us in that club
Sadly we cannot control how the body chooses to redefine and adjust our bodies on this journey.:weary:
