Trouble sleeping

(Bruce Miller) #1

Hi people. This is my first time in a forum so I hope I don’t mess up.
I’m just a beginner. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting (16 hrs) and keto for 2 weeks and have lost 16 lbs. My only problem is that I have a hard time getting to sleep and wake up early. Getting about 5/6 hrs a night. I feel good but a bit tired in the afternoon. Any tips/advice/reassurances?

Are you getting enough supplements?

(less is more, more or less) #3

+1 on electrolytes, but no promises, either, on that.

I normally sleep 6 hours a night, and usually I sleep like a log, which isn’t bad for a male my age. Overall LCHF/Keto has improved my sleep, and has decreased my need for midnight bathroom pitstops. YMMV.

Hey Bruce! I have this issue too, one night this past week I got 3.5 hours, ugh. You may want to search on “insomnia” to find previous threads, there are a number of them. I don’t remember seeing a consensus on one solution that worked for everyone, but there are lots of ideas to try. Best of luck!

Liking dual release melatonin. Wild dreams though.

I’m finding I fall asleep faster and sleep deeper, however, if I don’t get enough sleep or my sleep is cut short, it’s very hard to get up.

This is very problematic for me on Mondays, as that is an early day of work for me. Since it’s the only day I have to get up so early on, it’s been impossible for me to adjust to getting to sleep earlier for the one day. I’ve always dragged a bit on Monday mornings because of this, but now it’s crazy hard getting out of bed when the alarm goes off. It’s like my body is demanding a minimum of 7 hours before it wants to function again.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

Try stopping eating earlier in the evening. If you eat too late, it can interfere with sleep.

Hey everybody, thanks for the great tips. I’m pleaed, no, exstatic, with the results up to now, so…I’m trying out sodium, potassium and magnesium; getting plenty of fats and eating as early in the evening as possible :hugs:
