I’ve been keto for about a month ore more (I think, my protein may have been to high for the first couple of weeks, then an overindulgence of cashews 1.5 weeks ago…)
Meanwhile, my QUESTION is this:
Is it normal to get to bed (2200 is my norm), sleep and then find that you are waking up earlier than your alarm, or not able to sleep as long as you feel you should?
I want to be “relaxed, calm and not worrying” because my intention is to do all that I can (and that’s sort of contrary, because I need to “do” less) to lower or not initiate cortisol spikes.
Certainly there’s no way for me to measure that, but a lot of it is a mental/spiritual issue for me, and sleep is SO very important. Therefore, waking early gets my mind churning so…?
Trouble sleeping and newish to keto
I hear it’s normal to sleep less when you go keto. I do too. You shouldn’t worry about that (it’ll spike your cortisol ). If you feel rested when you wake up, it’s ok. It only means that your sleep is deeper and more restful. You now have extra time to do whatever you want.
As long as you are not tired and groggy throughout the day I think you are okay. Waking up before your alarm is also a good sign because it means youre getting into a healthy routine and not interrupting your natural sleep cycle.
I mean, think of it as though your body is saying “okay Ive had enough sleep now” and waking up, as opposed to having to wait for an outside force which perhaps implies it wasnt rested enough yet (assuming you are not experiencing any ill effects).
I sleep less, more regularly, and tend to wake up before my alarm as well. But I am not worried about it because I feel perfectly fine.
Thank you for both responses, I was hoping this may be the “general knowledge/wisdom” regarding my concern. Because, I don’t want to be concerned and spike that cortisol too high, exactly!
Thanks for the support
