I’ve been keto for 7 months, no day has been more than 20g and most are around 5g. I’ve just been curious lately how many carbs are ok for me so last week I was eating my burger with no bun and decided to try some fries and see how it affected me. I am keto so of course I got the bacon, cheese, sour cream fries! This place has always had great fries that is the only reason I even tried, but they tasted bad, real bad. I ate maybe 10 of them, mostly for the cheese stuck to them. Tested bg 30 minutes later and was at 112, my normal is high 80’s.
So my wife started Jan 1 and has lost weight and a lot of inches but has really craved ‘real’ pizza so I said we could try our old favorite pizza place and see what it did to us. 10" pepperoni, 6 slices. While it was ok it wasn’t any better or worse than our homemade stuff and my wife ate 2 slices and I had 3. Crusts are really hard to find numbers for, this stuff was so thin I estimate 20 or so a slice when comparing to what is out there. So 60g at once, and I had about 6oz of homemade pulled pork for lunch and that was it so total for the day was 60. Oh I did check my bg when I got home and it was 100.
So, it is 4 AM and I have been up since 3 with the worst gas I can remember having, my guts feel and sound like they’re boiling and every 15 minutes I run to the bathroom because it feels like an incoming disaster but it never is, just an airhorn. I stepped on the scale because I remember people mentioning that eating carbs made them retain water. I have been 200-201 every morning for a week, I was just 205.
I don’t really know what else could cause this, but I have no desire to eat a carb any time soon.
