Tried a new blood ketone tester

It’s this one:

Hmm…I didn’t realize there was another version that would link to the phone. I bought the kind that doesn’t.

My Keto Mojo stopped working – it wouldn’t report ketone results. It saw there was a strip there, but when I put blood on the strip, nothing happened. Tried 4 strips.

Anyway, the Keto BM seems a little “cheaper” than the Keto Mojo. The strips are harder to get in, and there’s no slide to push to remove the strip. You have to pull the strip out.

I can’t compare levels, as I don’t have another meter. The levels seem reasonable, my normal 0.2-0.4 mmol/l morning values. I keep forgetting to test i the evening.

The strips for the Keto Mojo and Keto BM are about the same price.

Since I looked up the Keto Mojo, they’ve been showing me these in the “you might be interested in this” category at least a week now. Interesting to see more options.

There’s also the precision Xtra:

I’ve used those too, and at one time compared the levels from these with the Keto Mojo. For some reason, I got about half the level on the Precision Xtra than on the Keto Mojo. Never figured that out.

I also did research on the most accurate pin-prick glucose monitor, and bought that. So, I had three different meters when I was doing these tests. Yikes!

I still had the Precision Xtra meters not too long ago, but lately, I’ve been taking all my old electronics to the dump (electronics recycling), so I took them there. Trying to cut down.

Interesting, I gather there are glucose and ketone strips, so it’s not like one drop of blood to do both, but it still seems like a pretty easy way to monitor.

At one point I used the Precision Xtra glucometer until I replaced it with the Contour Next. I still have it.

Bob, I did the same for blood sugar, as the Contour Next supposedly is more accurate.

I had a picture where I show 3 ketone monitors, all taken using the same blood, and the values were 0.2 (Precision Xtra), 0.4 and 0.8 (two Keto Mojos, I think). Back then, I used to buy one monitor for work and one for home, and I had both at home for some reason. And the monitors themselves are usually “cheap”, because they want you to buy the strips.

There MIGHT be an issue with using one finger prick for multiple monitors, as maybe it’s possible that some reagents in a strip could affect the second (or third) monitor’s reading. At the same time, it’s hard to prick yourself multiple times.
