It’s okay, I was just curious a bit as usual
Oh once I bought a gecko door stop! But it was pretty small and I didn’t need a doorstop so I nailed it on a wooden pillar in Alvaro’s room… Lovely little gecko. I love plenty of animals but when they are carved out of wood? Even better. Poor gecko isn’t visible enough, still the whole thing is brown, I should paint the gecko itself green or something…

Alvaro says the cold showers are effective, his body starts to turn up the heating halfway to work/home… That’s after 3-4km? MY body gets warm after 1km and only some walking and 2 layers are needed  But now, after a bunch of cold showers (not one lately… but I will try again) I definitely am even less prone to feeling cold as before. In my own room, I mean, I totally feel there is cold outside these days. Forecast talks about warming and “spring Christmas” since days and the big ice blocks from the outside cat water bowl are still there under the thuja… By the way, the cats drink so much! Cats allegedly don’t do it but ours didn’t get the memo. My plants are thirsty too, the little princess started to wilt again. I am used to all the others who are fine with very little water whenever I remember. I actually water them more often but it’s not enough for Little Princess (yes, it’s a fitting name. it’s very pretty normally) and the… Forgot the name the big ones who get transported between outside and inside. It’s good I realized I can prune them as the big one would take up all the place. It hides all my other plants in the window anyway but I bring some up to my room for winter and spring. My room is dark in summer but the big plant is outside so they get the window again. The wall is quite thick so there is plenty of room there, inside and outside as well.

Dinner, 2 beef burgers and 2 rashers bacon follow by some cheese and later this evening more cheese, will never sleep lol and a tin of tuna

Longest day of the year. I hope to spend a bit of it at the beach.

Staying on plan. 2MAD, NoFUN. Bacon and eggs breakfast. Ruminant meat at night. Last night was lamb (again). Stocked up on some venison from the farm shop yesterday, and looking forward to getting a big supply of real biltong tomorrow. Feeling strong.

At Christmas at our homestead the decorations put themselves up. We have a native spider here that moults into this colourful stage in December. And we have a native mistletoe tree in the area that blooms bright orange. So I let nature do the work.

@Fangs and @JJFiddle, I reckon Mrs. Bear would be handy on a chainsaw. She smashed up my last one in a frenzy of firewood cutting. I need a tougher model.

Merry Solstice!

(Robin) #185

Wow! That’s an impressive spider! How big is it?

(Edith) #186

We celebrated the winter solstice last night by dancing around the fire in our backyard. It is my favorite day of the year.

@Karen18
girl your garden IS becoming its own shop ya know  You gonna run out of room but darn that is a very attractive watering can and I would want it also LOL I used to garden up like that til my brain snapped into minimalist and all that stuff is gone now.

When I bought my home 35 yrs ago I wanted to ‘natural landscape’ the front yard. As in sow in all wild flowers and put in some plants that kept some green in winter and ‘exist on its’ own’ but my Dad talked me out of it. Wish I did it. I despise mowing LOL

Your dress collection is so impressive and beautiful!

@JJFiddle
yea we got the cold here too. some ‘South’ isn’t it? :frowning: Yea one needs a big powerful gas chainsaw for alot of work that an electric or battery option can’t handle. We got some huge trees to handle on the fence lines. Need power…woof…more power LOL but alot of the products out there are ‘more user friendly’ so we all do got great options to buy and help us do that hard darn landscape work!

I love reading your music biz and your career. Song books and lessons and your gigs, all keeping you so busy and jumping. But I take it your ‘job’ was your passion, your music so hit that best of both worlds on making an income too  cool

yea no jellyfish attacks on this trip HA

@Shinita
wondering, you see to get alot of headaches, is this kinda thing for ya? any reason you think you go down with them? more like migraine type or ?? just curious on how ya feel today, hope better!!

-----------------so days going fast and with us leaving Dec 26 for RV beach trip I got that to handle and home to handle. Not too bad but weather here is horrible. big big rain. temps to plummet. Ice? sooner than later? I despise winter. One reason I know when I get kid in college and life for her seems routine and settled and she pulls away from us, hey, moving MORE South to warmer weather is going down. I am SO over this cold mess. I got options and I am gonna use those options to move LOL

got nice Tbone to eat later.

realized when I flip my first and second meal…as in eat lighter first meal I starve in second meal. First meal MUST be the heavy hitter for me. That holds me easily thru the rest of the day and second meal becomes, eh, what do I want, what satisfies that is easy and I don’t have that draw to food. I must always keep that in mind for me personally.

eating alot of burger along with the dog, who seems to ‘not be in a bad state’ as vet said and me and him will continue to inhale the burger at full speed. Tbone and burgers sound good to me

So chat with kiddo about her pooch and she is like he is fine and I am like, hold on cause we still gotta get him ‘real tested’ and find out what is going on, if anything, after the holiday. I said keep in mind he truly could be sick with tumor or ?? cause she was torn apart when I gave her the ‘vet news’ and the vet said and now she is like, her dog is gonna live forever. I don’t know, just wanna keep real issues maybe at the forefront for her but thru Xmas with the doggie is a great thing for her and he gets ‘a Xmas’ trip to the beach. He always goes camping with us in the rv over his life so…that is making her happy too. Just sad to go thru this doggie vet medical crazy crap at this time.

Happy Holidays are coming for all soon now :sunny:

Fortunately I only had migraine once. It was HORRIBLE. I hate my smaller ones well enough.

I always had headaches, it’s my thing. My theory is that I don’t allow my body to get sick (okay, sometimes it’s not so successful… but viruses and bacteria are powerful, okay? my body always win) so it communicates through headaches. I often can tell what is the problem though not always. They are usually tiny though 16 hours of light headache is annoying to me. Now with my sickness it was worse a bit but it passed. And I easily have weeks without any headache nowadays  And a hard one only a few times a year…? I need to get better than that as pills tend to be useless now.

But it’s still way better since I am an adult. I had headache way too often as a child, no wonder considering all the stress in a child’s life, school all day, lots of restrictions regarding when to rest… It was pretty cool when I got a job, it was so much easier than being a child, much more play and rest and fulfillment… I know it’s not necessarily typical, things got worse for me too at some point. And I loved learning but still, it is tough to be a child, waking up at 6 and going home at 3-4 without a proper private peaceful moment until then. And I didn’t have a bad family life or anything, I only had extracurricurals if I wanted (oh I wanted a lot especially maths wise) and no one bullied me (it’s allegedly uncommon. I was merely ignored. more time for maths problems).
Of course, an adult life brings its own responsibilities but I have more freedom in many things too. Too bad I am unfit for life on this planet but let’s not talk about that.

I try to be super silent (just react to non-eating things) as I entered my non-carni times, I will make some experiments, the whole mess of Christmas will pass (still didn’t make the tiny gifts), we will drink the wine… I am not even in big meat eating mood now. But it surely will be a great idea soon.

Up about 9am and did my reading and coffee time in the lounge as it was wet outside again.

Dollied up and off to a tea dance this afternoon with Raymond. We havent been since the week before i started doing 3 set days at work which then prevented us from being able to attend. Anyway everyone so surprised and pleased when we walked in and lots of hugs and catch ups. Lovely lot. Dropped Raymond off afterwards and headed straight over to my daughters to kitsit only to find my son in law had arrived home early. I was taking over boxing days turkey and drinks for my son plus the xmas cards so it wasnt a wasted journey and isnt that far from my house. Had to pick up fuel on the way home for tomorrow so that is now sorted for trip to Lichfield tea dance.

Finally home and fooooood! made an omelette, 3 chicken eggs and put in tinned salmon and cold water prawns. Not brilliant but i was hungry by the time i got home at 6pm! First food of the day. There was a fuddle this afternoon to which i took stuff that wouldnt pass my lips but Raymond had a bit … he is getting a little bit lax, he has dropped some weight but he needs to be mindful to keep it off. I didnt nag him, i have stopped all that.

After the okayish omelette i had some mediocre cheese … not that nice, then finished off the remains of the tinned salmon and cold water fresh prawns. Still dont feel like i have eaten anything yum … i may have to fry a burger a little later just to give my palette a decent taste and texture.

Halfway through the 100 push ups … they’ll be finished by the time i go to bed.

@Shinita
yea I feel ya on life stress and headaches and ‘they are your thing’ as they manifest for ya!!

one question tho…have you ever considered they are allergy related as in ‘sinus’ issues?

Like where is the pain? I KNOW a real headache ya know. It is not a sinus induced headache for me ever but you could easily vary on this one. I get the pressure behind the eyes, frontal area only, never ‘in my head’ like a ‘real heached’ if I get one and I also get kinda dizzy and off balance and ‘head feels clogged’ and can get very sharp shooting pains down the temples and have big back neck aches which is sinus related also.

so just chat on it, do you ‘get real inside brain type headaches’ or is it more like me on sinus is inducing our headaches but they are diff. in their placement?

I am sinus issues point blank and I live on sinus pills to correct, and yea, me being a farmer I have weeds and plant dust and livestock dander and ‘lower pressure’ storms ALL change my sinus reactions. I ‘found me’ on my head headache issues’ just wondering how yours are for you.

@Karen18
ahhh, off to a tea dance with Raymond. Love it K! Living the fun life  and then home for family cheer! Rock it out and keep having a blast thru your days!!

Yea, Raymond being older can only be shown of course, and olders do what they want as they want, but a ‘chat in the ear’ every now and then could help him. Hey stay on good eating cause it helps our health and after that, hey, everyone lives their lives as they need…so smart on not saying anything but when ‘that opportunity hits’ give the small ear chat and it might wake him up a bit to take care of himself  Cool

--------------OK MYSTERY MEAT FROM MY HOUSE REFRIG FREEZER.

image000000%20(53)

So I decided to ‘see’ what is in house freezer. All that is mostly carby eaters crap like junk but I also put up some meat in there from time to time too so I needed to ‘weed out’ not used items like OLD EGGO waffles my kiddo wanted but she hated, happy she hated them too but had to finally get rid of that crap sitting in there and found this pack of meat. HMMMMmmmmm

I thought flipping it, pork. had to be a few country style pork ribs but color? Seems like beef?? But what beef is in that frozen mixed up state of what the heck cut is this? HAHA

So got our my small roaster pan. Threw it in frozen solid, and for some reason even tho brain is saying pork something lower down is saying beef so I put in a tiny bit of water and a beef bullion cube and thought if pork, who cares if I beef broth the thing while it cooks to find out what it is HAHA

Guess what it was yet? A cut from a very large beef chuck roast I must have used for some ‘beef stew’ they wanted with taters and onion and carrots and all and then I said, alot of meat and too much to make so I put ‘some of the chuck roast’ up for me later to only be squirreled away in that carby eaters freezer and then found who knows when…but it was delish!!! So tender in the roaster pot and long time to cook and just let it happen and yum, I woofed down that meat. I gotta remember when beef chuck roasts go on sale I need to load up!! Definitely a lower, good fatty cut to help the wallet and the body.

cool freezer find for me and not one I dumped into the trash missing it and finding it so bad it wasn’t worth eating.

I love a good freezer meat mystery :joy_cat::100:

---------OK GUYS
new year coming. WHAT GREAT NAME are we gonna call our New Year ZC time that is coming fast upon us.

throw out some good ones for us ZCers to start a new year and new us

frigid weather. got Winter Storm Elliot on us. icy outside. not a fan ever. freezin’ my buns off. I am ‘in the South’ and we are like -3 tonight, shoot me HAHA but big storms come and go and right now high winds are insanity. Hoping 1/2 the metal roof off the barns don’t get destroyed. Weather…yikes. Nature…yikes.

ZC on strong!!

Christmas jewel spider is tiny. Not much meat on them. Little finger finger nail size.

Today I ate 500g of biltong and a big bowl of tiger prawns.

These are my surfboards.

Happy Carnivore Christmas those that celebrate it. Otherwise, happiness and health wishes to you all.

(Linda ) #192

Christmas is faster approaching esp those over seas (not in America) so merry Christmas to you all. Hope you all have a fantastic holiday… my husband won’t be home til early Christmas morning so be pretty quiet here…
Still on plan almost 6lbs down …so will keep to it.

#193

Nope, I am an anti-hipochonder. I am healthy and no one can persuade me I am not

My headache is always in my forehead part. After some time and if it’s too strong, it affects my eyes too, I think that’s normal. Though I never felt anyone else’s headache yet.

I don’t even know what sinus exactly is. Never had any problem with that as far as I know.

Oh one more day and I can rest  Tomorrow is finally Christmas day (eve), we do a tiny little shopping, have the family dinner and come back home…
I baked various things and Alvaro happily ate up the tiny leftovers. I almost ate up my cheese. We probably need some more.
The freezer is still full (if I get something out, I put something in… now it will be another box of egg whites as my baking ate up 8 yolks for a little thing). It won’t keep me from buying a tad more meat, just what I cook right away.

I don’t really have meat mysteries in my tiny freezer as I use them up quickly… Only some super temporal mysteries when I look into a box and wonder what the hell is that thing… But I always remember as it’s never older than… 1-2 months. And I don’t have so many various things. So I always figure it out.
Sometimes the box has a text on it about the type of meat and often even the multiplier (used to figure out the raw weight if it’s cooked) but I mostly just do it for the stuff I can’t figure out after some minutes due to similarities. Like pork chuck and pork shoulder, the latter is fattier but the difference isn’t obvious to my eyes. And I probably couldn’t tell apart leaner pork cuts.
The original packages have their labels but sometimes the slabs are huge and I rather put half of it into a bag and I need a hand-written label for them.
Now I am bold as I have turkey wing bases and chicken drumsticks without a visible label and they are surprisingly similar in their frozen chunk. But after a good look I can tell them apart and it’s not the end of the world to eat one instead of the other though I do prefer turkey.

(Karen) #194

@Fangs what a great find … i hate to say but i could tell that was some sort of braising steak and it looks quite a bit of meat there. Glad it was a hood piece for you u like my dinner  i had a spot of your trouble the other day, i cooked what looked like a good rump, i was starving again as hadnt eaten all day and it was the chewiest steak in ages, chewier than the last chewy steak. I left a good 4/5ths chewed up on side of plate and what i did eat i ended up swallowing in chewy lumps (not big enough to get stuck in my throat i hasten to add! Ended up cooking a couple of beef burger straight after and had some icky cheddar.

Just could drop off to sleep last night so ended up back downstairs and cooked up some bacon … that did the trick and i managed to drop off when i returned to bed after eating it!

Was up for 9am. The past couple of mornings have been very dark and i had to put the lamp on in hr lounge to be able to read this morning! In the bath by half 10 and out to pick up Raymond for our Lichfield tea dance. What a super afternoon, plenty dancing and lots of laughter. Raymond did incredibly well even though his shoulder was niggling toward the end of the afternoon. There was a fiddle and i took some goodies down even though i dont touch anything. The roads down and back were lovely and clear if a bit wet with drizzly rain … wish fridays were always that good on the roads down there … perhaps we ought to declare xmas every weekend

So as i said i had first meal of the day late again but dancing does come first lol the rump was attrocious and i am now a bit wary of cooking up the 2nd one in the pack … burgers on hand just incase it is as bad as first !
Probably eat a little something else later before bed. I remembered to get the lamb shoulder out of freezer and into fridge to defrost in time for boxing day, blimey i am getting good … i had left myself a note though and only read it as i was walking out of the door … but in nick of time!

(Robin) #195

Snow and freezing (and some frozen pipes) here. Finally made it to the store and bought a huge amount of meat. What a scary thought, to be without meat and unable to get out!

#196

@Karen18
that does sound like the worst chewy steak experience ya got on that one HA and icky cheddar also? you deserve a good meal now after reading about that one, lol.

--------------SO lost water. Not sure if cracked pipe at well or if just frozen. We got heat lamps from the barn (used for baby goats when kidding out) and got 2 lamps in well house. 4 deg. with like -1 feel to it and yea we are not prepared here in ‘the south’…the south my happy azz HA too damn cold for me.

So hubby waiting a bit to see what might happen when we warm up the well house and calling our ‘guy’ Rick and if we can’t get him hubby is gonna check cracked pipe etc. and get a plumber out here or if it something he can check into more and see if he can fix he will hit store for parts needed. So just found this out, no water a few hrs ago and dealing with which way to get’er fixed. ugh.

got a small tbone to fry up. got some burger and chicken to cook.

hurricanes and ice on power lines thru winter weather yea we prepare with extra water put up and fill up one bathtub so we got a toilet to flush easily…didn’t do my prep on darn very low freeze temps. With xmas on the brain my brain wasn’t in survival mode LOL I tell ya guys. always something.

hubby did run out and put on heat in RV for just in case but pipes are winterized but we are leaving for trip on Monday to beach so I think we should be fine there. again. day before xmas and all needed like a hole in the head but I know others got it worse so won’t moan too much

off to see what extra crazy this day brings…bleck

(Judy Thompson) #197

@Fangs no water, my worst nightmare!
You should indeed be good for the beach, this insanity will subside on Monday. By Friday or will be 70° again here!
During The Freeze 2 years ago people melted snow to wash dishes and flush toilets, we dipped water from rain collection tanks because all the processing of water is electric.
We have lost water in the “cabin” now - the apartment above the wood shop that has our only shower to date. So, washed my hair in the kitchen sink yesterday and so happy and grateful for my ZC life that eliminates body odor. Lastnight’s gigs were so much fun, people singing with all the Christmas music we played. Friends came out and brought a copy of that lyrics book. Somebody asked for the 12 Days of Christmas, phones came out for the list of 12 gifts and everybody sang at the top of their lungs!
Tonight we’re back there although on Christmas Eve it could be quiet - but I tell ya, this little tourist town never sleeps! Lots of folks travel here to spend Christmas.

Yesterday, chicken, sausage, and an egg for my afternoon meal. Didn’t get the photo till halfway through it… Have to learn patience!

Lastnight at the bar, people wanted to buy us drinks and I’d done the research on ZC martinis so ordered one very dry. She swished and discarded a little vermouth and then filled the glass :cocktail: with vodka. 3 oz she said. Interesting and nice. I opted for stopping after the one drink.

Lastnight at home, scrambled eggs and polska for us both. We earned it!

Today we finish that chicken. I will defrost some hamburger to go with it.

Merry Christmas! Happy meatings to all!

This was on the Zero Carb page in Facebook:

I just couldnt get off to sleep last night. At 1.30am i cancelled this mornings CrossFit session thinking it might have been anxiety over that that was stopping me dropping off as there would be lots of peeps there for the xmas eve class and sure enough i managed to drop off afterwards. I didnt sleep well, ot felt colder than it said on my phone and that didnt help at all.

So at 9am this morning i felt glad i had cancelled CF. I thought i dont have to go just because its a 12 days of xmas workout and i will have a laid back pj day instead. I have spent 2 busy days on the trot dancing and have 2 busy days tomorrow and boxing day so today would be a day of rest. So i read books all morning and eventually cooked the 2nd steak at 12.30pm. It wasnt great but not aa chewy as yesterdays. I cant say i really enjoyed it though. I had the last of the chicken stock from the carcass and added a beef stock cube to it and that was nice.

Dinner was the whole packet of pigs in blankets and as i was just feeling a bit peckish just a short while ago i fried 3 rashers of bacon. Its smoked and i am not so keen on it as it tastes a bit sweet. Finished off the cheddar.

Early night i think tonight. We have out xmas dinner at Salvation Army tomorrow.

(Karen) #200

Have a wonderful Christmas Day everyone. Peace on Earth and Good Will to All Men.

May all the people on our ZC thread that have become lovely friends have Peace in their Hearts Today
With love and good wishes

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

got a simple standing rib roast for later.
something tells me first meal later will be bacon/egg cheese omelet.

@JJFiddle, ahh, the lost water tribe here  luckily hubby got it fixed in a few good hrs. Him doing it and being a simple fix made it save me alot of plumber money

Snow is a good idea to use for sure. luck has it again we own a pool. I got a ‘prepper’ filtering system also so IF we do require big water I can use the pool easily and filter it too but like you even tho well died on us with our power it means we could heat water etc. But glad I don’t have to handle all that mess  Done my share of living out of a 5 gallon bucket of water for survival when needed and prefer to turn on the tap, shower, etc LOL

Too cold all. This big freeze snap is just really tough. So many having such big issues with it. Can only hope everyone just can enjoy their holiday in fine fashion  Be safe all!!
