‘Treat your new diet as a riotous celebration of foods you previously might have been told to be guilty about.’
This is exactly what I have been struggling to come to terms with in my head, how can I eat that… crackling on the pork joint too… actual butter not low fat spread. In that respect this way of eating is just amazing for those reasons alone lol

Perhaps a few of us (likely most) are a bit overly obsessed with keto, but it is truly not at all complicated.

First Principle: Your body will happily burn fat instead of glucose for fuel.

Don’t eat foods that are converted into glucose in your blood. This includes high levels of protein. I was once a T2D and this was a Doh! moment for me. I felt like a moron.

For me, as instructed by my doctor, this translates into:

net carbs < 20 g/day
protein < 50 g/day

I was also instructed to eat < 1000 kcal/day, but I am not going to argue with people telling you to eat fats to satiety. We are all individuals and I think it good advice to find a path that you can follow. I think it highly likely that if you adhere closely to your net carbohydrate and protein macro targets, you will achieve your goals.

Warmest Regards,
Richard
