Too soon to fast?

I am thinking of fasting today (but having a few bpc’s). Then Keto tomorrow from lunchtime. I am hoping to kick start some weight loss. I am starting week 6 of Keto and have lost 8lbs but nothing for the last 2 weeks. Is fasting at this stage a waste of time? (too soon?)

You might be fine, especially with the BPC. You can always stop if you don’t feel good.

It’s not too soon persay but maybe start with IF 16:8, 18:6 without the BPC.

If you’re not hungry then don’t eat. Fasting should be a something that happens naturally.

@juice yes I am tracking (MyFitnessPal)and I upped my calories a week ago as I wasn’t eating enough. I am going by the Keto ruled me calculator maintenance macros.

How much should you be eating per day?

  • 1564 calories

  • 128 g fats

  • 20 g carbs

  • 84 g protein

Having always done low calorie, low fat diets it’s very hard (mentally) to stick to those macros when I’m not losing weight… but I’m giving it a good go!

Well I ended up doing a 20:4 IF. I also had 2 coffees , each with 1/2 a teaspoon of butter and 2 tablespoons of cream. I have had the mother of all headaches all day today! I have had a few glasses of water with a pinch of salt (sea salt?) in them but headache is getting worse. So far today I have had 2 coffees with cream and it is now about 18 hours since I ate last night. I am going to have something to eat now and it might get rid of the headache? I am hungry but don’t know what I want to eat!!

You probably need more than just a pinch of salt.

How much salt (dissolved) in water is an okay amount per day?

Not good to dissolve in water, unless you want to make yourself sick. Easiest to just dissolve directly onto your tongue several times throughout the day. I make up capsules and take one every morning as well as adding salt to meals and coffee too. I think it’s advised to get at least 4000mg of sodium a day on keto although I don’t have any amount I aim for personally, but if I feel the need I’ll have extra.

I started out just skipping breakfast. I had a few panic attacks early on and eat lunch early. I still feel some hunger in the morning before lunch but it’s barely a distraction any more. After that I learned to eat nothing one day a week. I’m currently 11-12% body fat. I don’t want to reduce further so my restricted eating won’t be getting more aggressive. (I do zero snacking. It undermines everything else. Lunch keeps me full until dinner. After that I’m not hungry again until the next morning, if then.)
