Tonight's supper

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #1

So, I’ve been testing my BG and BK before eating, since I’m trying for a GKI of as close to 1 as possible. I’m happy with under 3.

Before supper:
BG 81, BK 1.5, GKI 3.1 (not bad, its been worse)

After supper (2hr post-prandial):
BG 83, BK 3.4, GKI 1.4

Supper was:
Carbs: 6g, Fat: 134g, Protein: 46g, Calories: 1468

Foods were:
4/5 cup coconut cream /w 2 scoops MCT powder (one was flavored)
8 oz Angus chuck pot roast, cooked in butter
1oz goat cheese
2oz avacaodo w/ 1tbsp oil and vinegar dressing

I dream of the day my BG stays about the same after that kinda meal… although the coconut cream and mct mix is not on my radar yet.

I’m guessing your ketones went up with MCT oil and maybe the coconut cream.

In my head I wonder about exogenous sources of ketones or in the case MCT which metabolises easily to BHB and what benefits they impart.

Do exogenesis sources used to raise BHB contribute to therapeutic value and if so what benefits? I really don’t know. Dr. Mary Newport showed a benefit with her husband for treating AD and his cognitive abilities with MCT oil and Coconut fat.

What I am specifically wondering about is: what is the autophagy benefit of maybe dosing with MCT, coconut oil or even BHB esters at the end of the last meal before fasting? I may have to do a pub med search today if my work turned out to allow the time.
