Tofu Food

Is this acceptable on the ketogenic diet?

From a straight macro standpoint it’s not terrible but aside from that most soy is GMO, not coming from great soil, and estrogenic. I’d personally avoid it at all costs but that’s just me, IMO soy is just terrible all around.

After researching this as he is after researching this as he is probably not the best keto option but oh well I’m going to enjoy this tonight I made this recipe. It’s none GMO and organic tofu but still I don’t think if keto approved but nevertheless this is a picture of it

I used to love firm tofu in soups, but have been staying away from soy and find that I don’t miss it. I now use jicama cubes in my soups instead. Bought 3 large jicamas when they were available, peeled them, popped them in the pressure cooker for a bit, cut them up and froze them singly on a baking sheet, then popped them in a vacuum zipper bag. Now I can just take out what I need and it’s perfect.

If you can stay within your carb limit by eating soy, then it is acceptable, though probably not ideal. Soybean oil is excessively high in inflammatory ω-6 fatty acids, and so should be avoided.

A lot of people avoid soy because of the phytoestrogens it contains. I personally avoid tofu at all costs, because it is the work of the devil.

ketowise, tofu can fit into your diet. But I do worry about phytoestrogens in non-fermented soy products. I used to eat a good amout of small batch locally made tofu. But when I went keto I also gave up vegearianism-ish. I have to say… there is a reason steak is so much more expensive. It is a heck of a lot better. That said, I have nothing against eating tofu once in a while.
