Hi guys, I have had a few people tell me that in order to lose weight, you shouldn’t eat more fat on a keto diet. Just keep carbs below 20. This sounds like crap based on all the science and info I’ve seen, but just checking if there’s new research out there I wasn’t aware of?
To eat fat, or not to eat fat. That is the question
Yes you have to eat more fat. Ideally you want to be burning as much internal fat as possible but you don’t do it by severely restricting calories, which is the only possible outcome if reducing carbs but not increasing fat.
From what I understand, when you first go keto, you need to eat as much fat as you can until you feel satiated. It helps your body to start using fat as fuel. When you’re fat adapted, you will naturally and effortlessly reduce your fat intake because of a decrease in hunger.
As you get leaner you’ll most likely need more dietary fats as your body will still need the fuel you’ve trained it to use.
You’re not going to eat just to eat. We eat when hungry and stop when not hungry. We have a limit of how much carbs and protein so we get to fill the rest with fat.
