Thyroid and Keto

(ray) #1

Recently saw a commercial saying keto diet is bad for your thyroid. Any insight on this statement?

Dr. Nalley discussed this very subject recently:

Keto Salt Lake 2019 - 06 - Dr. Adam Nalley: Tuning the Thyroid with Ketosis: Published on May 1, 2019 As an internationally known speaker, Dr. Adam Nally puts a profoundly practical and charismatic effect on topics of importance. He creates a “bridge” for the average person to see and clearly understand deeply complex concepts in the medical world with his knowledge, humor and endless bacon analogies.

Do you have an existing thyroid issue or have you ever had it tested?

There’s some general information about keto and thyroid here: https://blog.virtahealth.com/does-your-thyroid-need-dietary-carbohydrates/

Or we have a Thyroid section in the private Health forum. You should be able to see that when you’ve been on the site for 15 min or so. https://www.ketogenicforums.com/c/health/thyroid

He’s a great speaker and I recommend watching his whole presentation, but can you point to the time where he talks about thyroid?

Wow! The anti-keto agenda resorting to commercials?

#7

Really, what commercial did you get?

Was wondering if the original poster of thread has a link to said commercial…lol

Television/cable commercial?

Thank you for posting this, a few weeks ago some lady on a Keto podcast said you absolutely wouldn’t lose weight with hypothyroid on Keto unless you were able to heal the hypo state first - but this shows that #1 is still getting insulin under control first. If I find that podcast again I might send them a link to this video lol.

Now I am wondering how much cauliflower is too much?!?

#11

I just found some general info that said 1/2 cup or 4-5 florets of cauliflower and no more…I don’t think I have had more than that in a day due to carbs so that’s not really a problem.

I think the one of the best things that can benefit anyone who eats LCHF, is reducing inflammation in their body. This has a positive domino effect on almost all aspects of our physical and mental health. Dr. Jockers has a pretty good article on this subject:
