It strikes me that it is much easier to make gains in our health by eliminating bad habits, foods, people and other stresses in our life first. I often wonder if any improvement can be attributed to things or people that I’ve removed rather than things that I’ve added in. If I had had more time, I think I would have eliminated many things first, and then observed the results. Then, after a period of observation, I would begin to add in food, supplements, and therapies that might also improve our condition. I think it is very difficult to add new things before you’ve eliminated old things. Just food for thought. An observation.
Throw out the trash first, then observe, then add in the new
Perhaps.
But I don’t know how you can go from a LFHC dietary regime to LCHF without doing both.
I eliminated most processed foods, seed oils, potatoes, rice, wheat and corn. But I added in more protein, butter, heavy cream etc to make up for the small amount of carbs I was eating every day.
I tweaked a bit later by cutting down on the amount of fat I was eating because I wasn’t hungry and didn’t need it.
If this wasn’t what you are referring to… please elaborate with some examples
You would think that it would be easier.
But people are more inclined to try pills, surgery and other crazy ideas without actually looking at their food/exercise intake.
It actually drives me insane.
“I work out so hard at the gym but I never get results! *eats bucket of KFC on the way home, doesn’t understand why results don’t come faster”
Maybe if you put the fucking fried chicken down Tammy, you’d see an improvement.
Of course you need to add something then… Food wise, I basically just took away. Carby food, processed food, lots of fat, probably protein too… I ate way too much of everything. Then I took away even more and more vegetables… I haven’t finished taking away things (though I rarely do that completely, I just drastically lower the amount) but at this point I need to add something as well. That will be meat but I need to take away some other protein then, I already eat too much as I always did… As someone who always ate lots of nutritious food but less than ideal ones too and way too much, I really feel the usefulness for elimination. And if someone is sensitive, a little bit of harmful food can make a huge difference, almost perfect diet with a tiny but serious problem and the one may feel horrible.
The message was clear to me, we shouldn’t just add various things hoping our overcomplicated lifestyle will become great while being burdened with every kind of junk, we need to take away harmful food items, habits and sometimes even people. I quite agree. But we might need to add things right away, of course, a drastic diet change shouldn’t result in starvation or feeling miserable.
