I think he has some good points and he is also very wrong in some of what he’s claiming. I have been eating very low carb (way under 20g a day) for 11 weeks, I know I am in ketosis (I measure blood ketones) am feeling great and am loosing weight. No cheat days wanted or needed. His audience seems to be mostly bodybuilders and his statements and claims may very well apply to HIS audience. However I don’t think it applies to the majority of the people I have seen post on this forum.
People who are sick with T2D and other inflammatory diseases generally don’t seem to do well with fruit other than avocado (never mind rice) when doing keto.
This guy is also selling his coaching program and is appealing to people who are building muscle and don’t necessarily know the nitty-gritty of the science or care to check.
He gets some good criticism of his claims in the comments (by someone named Travis Whitten). Claiming that one size fits all is just not very true about anything in life.

I listened to the first 6 minutes. Does he actually say what he THINKS being in ketosis is? Sounds like he is just selling his ā€œDolce Dietā€.

OK I didn’t watch the whole thing but…
…his point seems to be that ketosis is not a natural state because it is easy to get kicked out of it by GNG. It’'s technically not the glucose conversion, but the reaction to insulin which reduces ketones and can cause the GNG. This may be true if you are seriously metabolically deranged. A healthy young human is very easily naturally ketotic on a daily basis when they wake up in the morning. Repairing a dysfunctional system is different.

If the point is ā€˜it’s not the ketones that make you super human’ then he is partially correct. It is the metabolic flexibility that fat adaptation restores to us rather than ā€œrunning on ketonesā€. Ketones can be used as a fuel, but they are also a sign that you’re capable of running on fat.

I think @Redrover73 is right on the money here…

If he is loosing clients to keto it probably makes sense to him to bash out. I watched the whole thing and he does know a great deal about the underlying science. To me, his arguments made no sense… unless you are young, healthy and wanting to be a bodybuilder.

Edit: And by the way… the still-image in his video is stolen from The Diet Doctor

Not much good in here, he seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding of, well, everything, or he is purposely misleading people.
You can think he might just be speaking to an audience that cycles in and out, refeeds etc but at 8 minutes he proves his ignorance:

ā€œIf you’re on a zero carbohydrate diet, you can barely get out of bedā€.

At 13:30 we all cheat at least once a week with a high carbohydrate meal.

Clear by that statement he knows nothing about any of this.

Yep. One cheat meal loaded with carbs and/or sugar could put your ketosis back 3-4 days (to deplete glycogen stores replenished by the carby meal), so it’s no wonder some folks don’t see any real progress while cheating all the while…KCKO is the way.

There are some pretty broad assumptions and sweeping generalizations in that video!

I made it 20 seconds. The guy is a tool…
