Those tricky labels! And changing things up

(Deb) #1

I tend to think I know what the heck I am doing food-wise most of the time, considering I’ve been lc for several years. But ya know, little things that you do every day can just slip by you!
Case in point: My favorite Coffeemate non-dairy creamer and I have been together for well over 20 years. I always thought it was 1 gm of carbs per TABLESPOON.
WRONG! It’s per TEASPOON!!!
So how many more carbs do ya think THAT has been adding up to, considering I drink coffee like it’s going out of style and use 2 TBSP. per cup?!
So switched today to half and half. 1 gm per 2 TBSP and only use 1/2 TBSP per cup.

The other thing is gum. I’m a chronic chewer. Even though sugar alcohol is iffy, I’m gonna quit for a day to see the effect.
Report tomorrow!

Switch to MCT oil powder for 0g carbs!

(Deb) #3

Is that like a creamer? How much fat?

(Ethan) #4

It needs to be stirred better, but it is 7g fat. Quest MCT Oil Powder is what I use.

(Allie) #5

I agree, the Quest one is great as a coffee creamer. Watch other brands though! I bought one that had dextrose added :unamused:

(Deb) #6

Might give that a try! Thx. Do you get that local (walmart, etc?)

(Ethan) #7

I don’t buy anything local anymore. Amazon runs my bank account.

OMG YEEEESSSSS :joy::joy::rofl::rofl::joy::joy:

(Allie) #9

Mine too… :joy:

How’s that for a result?! I’ve been hanging around 132-135 for a month, regardless of fasting (even a 48 fast - of course, I drank coffee, which now I know blew every effort) or any change in actual food. And all along it was something tricky in tiny print hidden on a label that was holding me back. That was the ONLY change I made yesterday.
Moral: Never stop looking for answers!

(Sophie) #11

As usual, it’s the fine print that screws you over!

Nice catch! I likewise read every label and occasional catch something that is less than ideal. N=1 experiments… Revise behavior wait and see. If positive results make revision permanent…
